Default Not a great moment for me as a mother (spiders involved!)

At a risk of being flamed I just can't help but share what just happened.

Having a nice time sitting with 22 month dd outside, we are looking at my Hello Kitty top which I'm wearing and I realise on it is a spider- one of those nasty wolf like types! Now I hate spiders at the best of times so I panic and start smacking away -my poor bewildered dd- and then I jump up and knock dd over (on concrete) in the process...

But that's not the worst of it... Poor dd is bawling on the ground hurt and grazed and I'm still tugging at my shirt, can't find the spider. I refuse to pick up dd just in case the spider dropped on her, instead I kind of chuck her onto the grass and roll her around for a bit to make sure she's "clean" then cuddle and console her (meanwhile I'm topless and paranoid like crazy it's crawling one me somewhere so I'm still jumping around like a lunatic).

Anyhoo..... Kissing her grazes (not too bad) better and feeling like an awful mum. I thought it should be instinctive to protect your child but in that moment my only instinct was to get that spider off me!

Eta: I'd just like to add dd is fine

Oh please don't quote I might delete later... Already having second thoughts about posting this lol

My spider phobia completely over rules my mothering instincts. It's been a fear of mine since my kids were born something like this would happen or that the spider would be on THEM and I wouldnt be able to help them

I was walking with DS in a botanic garden and a snake slithered across our path, I screamed and ran away, leaving DS standing there bewildered

    Hahahahaha!

Dd squishes spiders with dh's work boots all the time.
They are mostly daddy long legs or house spiders.
She squished this spider once and screamed, it must have been a mummy spider because when she squished it hundreds of baby spiders came out and started running up her legs.
I kind of pushed and shoved her with my arm extended as much as possible and just threw her into the shower.
I didn't have time to warm the shower up so poor dd was screaming and kicking her legs under a freezing shower.
I remember she had a few spiders in her hair and I got the shampoo out and it all got in her eyes.
Pretty ****ty mum moment for me.

A few months after that DH killed the same kind of spider.
He didn't have his glasses on as he just woke up and he didn't know what all the little dots where running. It took him a while to realize, once he did he ran through the house screaming (naked as he just got out of bed) ran outside and dived straight into the pool.
    Bahahahahah!
It was the middle of winter and it was around -3 that morning.

Hahahaha hilarious. I'd probably react the same. Don't delete - for me this came at just the time I needed a laugh. It might be the same lifeline for someone else out there.
