I am in a similar situation, our FS said that if our next cycle is 0 fert again there is no point using my OE, so the decision will be made for us. And like you a friend has offered to be an egg donor.
My personal thoughts are that I would prefer to have a known donor, as I know her medical and genetic history and I know her and she is a good person with 2 healthy happy kids of her own. They way I see it she would be like the cool aunty!

We did 3 unsuccessful rounds of IUI before IVF. But yes it appears we were that freak statistic among over-40s & got a BFP first round. The specialist was very shocked, especially since both DH & I had fertility issues.

Wow. .i am hoping this post works as i just installed the app on my new phone and can't find where everything is. I must have had an old version because this one is completely different. Still trying to work out how to reply to the thread so currently using Web view lol

@Luckyme1 thanks for the pep talk. I know you are right regarding DE but i can't help feeling a real sense of loss about my own eggs. I guess that means i may not be ready for a donor yet. I think i will try one maybe 2 more times with OE just to get it or of my system.
Re advice yes ask what is happening with your doctor. You won't be the first to be asking them i am sure! I bet the are getting phone calls from panicked women daily. Lol

@Bongley i am not sure about my using my friend's eggs either. I wonder will i look at my child and think it looks like her? It looks like her kids? I am not sure how i could get my head around that.
My sister had also offered me her eggs but it was an easy decision to say no to her. She has a partner that is an absolute w@nker and likes to remind us regularly of how lucky we are that they (and he) grace us with their presence on important family occasions. He is the type that would make sure i remembered every day how they had helped us to have a baby and would be telling everyone else that we and they know also. He has a big mouth and a big ego. So that was a thanks for offering your eggs but i don't think it is right kind of conversation lol i just couldn't live with that or put my child through that.

@MissDa i am so feeling for you right now. How many cycles have you had without fertilisation?

Ha ha fudge 09 I have a sister and brother in law the same as you and had a similar conversation with them about DE. That is a very wise decision! I used an unknown donor and its the best thing I ever did. Happy to chat further about this with you if you PM me.

    Welcome back Fudge!
Re donor eggs, we don't plan to use them. I know it's a very personal thing and I am happy for all the ladies who have decided to go that way. My sister offered her eggs and despite her being a great mother and my closest confidant I could not do it, neither could Walt. We just don't see how she could separate herself from our child and I could envisage feeling inadequate and horrid about it. So we won't go there. Her DH is awesome and like a brother to me but we still wouldn't do it. Walt is dead against an unknown donor because to quote him, he does not want a dumb child, which is a bit of a silly comment but it sums up his opinion. He was attracted to me for certain reasons and wants some of my traits in his kids. I know all the ladies have said wonderful things about our bodies nurturing the baby and that's true. But it's just not for us. We would love to give an orphaned African child a home if OE don't work out. That's a whole other struggle and they probably will say I'm too old for that too. Long story short, I'm just saying, DE are not for everyone. But whatever you do, it will be right for you.

Butterfly, you crack me up! Funny lady! Please don't pop it would be such a mess!

Hi to all the other amazing ladies!

Well done with the jabs Leisylou.
