    Default IVF over 40 #11

Could someone please take me off the roll call, unfortunately at my 9 week scan my baby's heart had stopped beating and I had a d&c a few days later. Good luck to you all and congrats to those that have a BFP x

Angels.... yes, will do. Very sorry to hear that. I've said it time and time again, that it's just not fair to get that long awaited BFP, for it to progress a while, and then stop. Very sorry.

Thankyou Bertie, it's absolutely gut wrenching to have finally gotten pregnant after 9 IVF attempts only to have it taken away from me, I just don't understand how life can be so incredibly cruel. Congratulations on your BFP I hope your pregnancy is a smooth one and look forward to hearing your birth announcement next year 😊

Omg...Bertie! Your post brought me to tears (not that it takes much to do that these days).

You deserve every minute of your joy and I can't think of better news for Christmas. How bloody wonderful! Honestly I am as excited for you as I would be for a dear family member.

AFM it is 3 weeks today since our beautiful son Lewis was born sleeping. Every day has been so incredibly painful I have no words that can describe the pain. His autopsy produced the following results - growth normal for his gestation, placenta normal size but showed signs of infection (consistent with him having been dead for 4 days), blood clot in his umbilical cord (pathologist will not call this a cause of death as it could have happened after death). So basically no answers. The pathologist said she would not give cause of death, my FS agreed and said there was nothing consistent with death, my obstetrician on the other hand blamed the umbilical blood clot and said I should be on Clexane for further pregnancies.

Which all leads me to yesterday. I have had so many questions and needed answers so went back to my clinic. This was so hard as I never thought I would have to go there again. My FS was wonderful. He told me to think carefully about the Clexane as it had it's own issues and can cause bleeding behind the placenta in addition to higher risk for me bleeding and the autopsy showed no evidence that the blood clot was a factor. my obstetrician wants me on Clexane as he does think it is the reason. As I live 30 minutes out of town this is a concern for me if I was to have bleeding.

While there we also discussed the future. The hard truth is I turned 41 while pregnant also losing valuable time. So the upshot of this was that as much as I would like to take time to grieve I don't have that time. He has suggested that as soon as I get my first AF after the birth I go straight on the contaceptative pill for 2 or 3 weeks and go straight into a cycle. This will be in late January or February. So here I am. .3 weeks ago I was nearly half way through my pregnancy and choosing baby names, today I am planning for another ivf cycle asap.

Sorry for the epic post but so much has happened it is hard to fit it into one post.

May I again say woo hoo to Bertie. I will say little prayers every day for your little bean to stay strong. Your news has been just the lift I have needed after such a terrible few weeks. It just goes to show have no regrets, nothing good ever comes from just giving up.

So much love to you all on this absolutely rubbish journey. What a great group of fighters you all are. Xx

@MGC Bertie That is wonderful wonderful news! Gave me the shivers and tears too! Yay for the humble turkey baster (appropriate time of year too!). Wishing you best of best luck x
@Angels4me I'm so sorry. There's nothing fair about any of this.
@Fudge09 What a heart-breaking journey for you, and so incredibly hard to keep going without answers or pause for breath. I'm so sorry you lost your little boy. Lewis is a lovely name x

@Angels4me, I'm sorry to hear your news
@Fudge09, I'm completely in awe of the way you are lining up to start cycling again, especially since you are still grieving Lewis and don't really have any more information. Wishing you the best

@Angels4me I am so sorry to hear that ! Same thing happened to us last year and it's just such a massive shock. And devastating. My heart goes out to you. @Fudge09 unfortunately yes at our ages we have to be forced into decisions we may not be ready for due to time restrictions. I can't believe what you had to go through and don't know how you would pick yourself up. I guess you just have to, we don't get much choice do we.
As for @McGBertie you lucky lucky thing you!! I am so excited for you and can't wait for further updates
Afm, just started our 16 hour drive to cairns and getting some telltale signs that AF/miscarriage may be on it's way. Bad timing but bring it on I say! I have a feeling that next FET with 2 transferred I will end up with two. I'm probably kidding myself but those type of positive thoughts make life easier
I hope everyone else is going great and has a nice Xmas break.

Thanks ladies for all your congratulations. It means the world to me.

Here's something else I've just remembered about my FS's phonecall this afternoon. Interestingly he told my Mum on the phone that I'm 29 days pregnant already. My Mum said that it can't be possible, since I had my IUI on 4 Dec, so that only makes 15 days, but he told her that he always adds 14 days onto it. I can't work out how that works, so something new to investigate!!!
