@Kelly70 Good Luck with the upcoming appoint with FF!! the IUI will will do the job for you as well Luv!!

That's great to hear about your brother handling things so well Am sure the chemo is doing it's job and he continues to get through it pretty much unscathed LOL the photo at the footy!!

@Skyler Am so sorry you and DH are feeling so sad. Big for you Luv. I understand about the DE situation, you're right, they're not for everyone for many reasons which makes things harder knowing you've only got one way to get your BFP

Hello to all the other Lovelies.... How are you all going Girls??

Kelly70 it's so good at o hear that your brother is dealing with the treatment positively and trust me positivity really helps. Wishing all the best for you and your family xx

Skyler . I know what you are going through. .. U do feel like that when uncertainty kicks in. We felt like that when last year we had a bfn with 2 CGH tested normal embryos , where my doc ( lynn burmeister ) was so hopeful as well. And I had earlier had 2 pregnancies with randomly transferring day 2 chromosomally abnormal embies..( I was just 32 then).. I was so hopeful that if the wrong ones had stuck why won't the right ones stick ? But I guess I was wrong... So no reason ...... Even after transferring 2 normals at 38 we are nowhere..., then we did a cycle in February this year which has made 2 blasts and we still have the 2 blasts that came out with inconclusive result last year... We are just going to try them one by one as I have somehow lost my trust even in pgd . Please give yourself a little time to think what you need to do now and the uncertainty would surely clear for good.. We r all there for each other. Xx

A big hi to all the wonderful ladies ..

Thanks Sue, I really feel like I have a lot on common with you. When a CGH normal fails, it's hellish. And not to mention PGD results 'unknown'. Goddamn it, that's why we did PGD! To know the result! I get you, I've lost faith in PGD. I realise it never guaranteed us a baby but wtf. Good luck with your transfer. It's so hard, almost impossible to guard against disappointment.

And Blondie as usual thank you too for being so understanding.

Hi to all the other lovelies!

AFM, been getting things done, eg tax, root canal therapy, this week. All horrible things but so much better than ivf. Actually feel a weight lifting when I seriously contemplate stopping this roller coaster.

Apologies for crashing your thread ladies. I'm hoping some-one might be able to point me on the right direction. I'd love to chat with any other ladies about how they went about choosing their sperm donors...what was important to them, cut off age etc. I'm just not sure which thread is best to ask the question on?? There seems to be a fantastic wealth of info on egg donors but I just can't seem to find a donor sperm thread.

    Default Starting IVF Mar/Apr 2014 - aged 43, single #3

Hi @Tahli - that's the perfect question to ask on this thread!! I've chosen 2 sperm donors to date and will be choosing a third when I head to Sydney shortly for iui. It's funny how your priorities change a bit once you've done a few cycles - initially I was pretty focused on looks in my donor - I mean I knew I wanted Caucasian, so that ruled a few out. Then next I looked at height and build, as I was hoping for a tall-ish donor and not over weight. I was put off by donors at monash that were described as solid, for example, although it's hard to know what that means exactly. I was also looking for a donor under 40, as I was over 40 and thought I needed a young buck!! I also scratched donors that had mental illness or serious physical illness in the family. I also was hoping for someone educated!! I was seriously fussy but it seems like such a big thing choosing the male DNA contributor to your own precious potential baby!! It's no easy decision and don't feel bad for questioning every aspect. There will also be a percentage of gay donors and that is something you need to consider also.

To be honest, my next choice will be a lot less fraught.. My first priority this time will be a donor with really high quality sperm (but that is based on the fact I have such a poor response to drugs/low amh/quality issues). Next I'll be looking at physical and mental health. All the physical stuff will come last this time.

You also just get a vibe or feeling from certain profiles, so I think there's a lot to be said for going with your gut.

@Tahli I think @Kelly70 has covered it really well. The only other thing that appealed to me was small things in common - like saying they are an animal lover.

be mindful of whether they've nominated happy for contact prior to 18. This will be totally up to you but I found the answer important, as if I was successful the child might want that contact. Good luck.

AFM - finally sending myself out on a date tonight with a really lovely man that I've had my eye on. Fingers crossed for a goodnight smooch haha.
