@Vixjc congratulations He sounds divine So very, very happy for you and I must say I love the name you've chosen. Hope he's doing well and can be with his Mummy all day and night soon! Thanks for your reminder to us to keep going because it is so very, very worth it in the end

AFM - well I am picking myself up after my BFN and trying to get my head around doing it all over again sooner rather than later. I spoke to my FS yesterday and she thinks it was a good cycle for my age (5 eggs, 4 fert, only 1 @ day 5) and she said she wouldn't change anything for my next one. I have to wonder about that. I only got 5 eggs out of 10 follicles. I think I'm just disappointed but I'm also wondering, since I'm in Brisbane, if I should try to get in to see Warren DeAmbrosis (the famous 'Wazza') and go on his cancellation list. I'm just wondering if I should put more money and more importantly, my heart and soul, into trying again with a FS that is going to do the same thing (and maybe that's completely valid) or do I try to get in with Wazza now and do my next cycle with him (providing i can get a cancelled appointment within the next few months). Lots to think about.

@Vixjc Congratulations! Lovely lovely news. Welcome little Thomas. Best of luck with these first exhausting delirious weeks x
@Penny75 So sorry to hear about your bfn. It is so hard to get straight back into things, but so many of us have learned the hard way how precious time is for us now. I do think it's important to have complete trust in your FS. 5 eggs 1 blastie does sound like a good outcome compared to some. I'm not sure about the gap between follie numbers and eggs though. I've certainly heard great things about Wazza on here. I don't think it would hurt to get a second opinion, if the wait isn't too long.
I had my first cycle a few months before turning 41, and got 12 eggs, 9 fertilised. 8 were frozen at 2 days so who knows how many/if any would have made it to blasto. We've had 100% thaw rate, but still, 5 failed transfers. My FS tells me not to panic yet, that it's a numbers game and just to keep doing what we're doing. We'll try another double in the new year, then either our last 2 embies or maybe try one last cycle and aim for blasties.
I really wish there were easier answers or a clearer path to take - there seems to be such a lot of divergence between clinics and specialists.

@Penny75 my attitude is do everything you can straight away. Sign up for Wazza - @BlondeinBrisvegas can tell you more - but if I was in Brisbane I would go running to him. I think results are very individual but if you can get 9 follicles you should definitely be pushing for more eggs.

Hi girls, crashing your thread because I read this from an o/s doc and I think some of you have been on these types of IVF protocols. He is against flare protocols and anything where you get longer exposure of the eggs from LH (like menopur). It is an opinion piece but I thought it was food for thought.

    Hi Girls....

@Penny75: I'm sorry too about your BFN Luv. I went to Wazza for a second opinion with the intention of Cycling with him if he thought it was worth a go. They'll no doubt be closed until New Year now, but defiantly call and get on the cancellation list. If there's anything else I can help you with just let me know

Am also popping in now that bloody Telstra (need I say more Girls??) has finally fixed our internet/ph line issue. Seems they didn't connect the phone line to the house properly when they transferred our account over. We've spent almost 2 weeks getting the run around from them and being told it was a problem from our end with our PC/modem.

DP got huffy with them over the ph yesterday arvo and practically demanded they send someone out which they did today. They also made the mistake of sending a customer feedback/survey form via email after the issue was sorted which DP has spewed forth his displeasure rather liberally about the whole debacle!! Am wondering if we'll get any follow up of if they'll just casually press the "Delete" button after they've read it!!

Anyhoo Ladies..just wanting to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year full of BFP's for every one of you!! Thank-you for allowing me to barge my way onto the thread and wax lyrical when the mood took me offering up mostly unsolicited opinions and such!!

Looking forward to doing it all again in the new year!! Have a good one Lovelies!!!xoxoxoxo

Hey @Jem70 and all, yep I had a scan at 19 weeks and all looking great except for a low lying placenta but we are hoping that moves up out of the way. He's kicking a lot which is just truly magical and I'm doing well although I've really struggled with weight gain, I've gained way more than I should have by now - 12 kilos and I'm only 20 weeks...

I've felt a bit depressed about it - I know that seems so trivial when it's such a struggle to even get pregnant but I've always had weight issues and disordered eating so I find it a bit tough. I'm really scared I'll end up at 90 kilos by the end of the pregnancy - I started IVF at 67, put on three after the first miscarriage just eating badly and drinking a lot and then I've gone from 70 to 82 so far and I'm only halfway.

Actually to be honest I deleted the bub hub app from my phone because all the women in my due group thread were talking about having gained 3-4 kilos by the third trimester - even those carrying twins and it was making me feel really depressed - that and there have been a few awful pregnancy losses recently including a couple in the second trimester and they just terrify me. I bounce between feeling happy he's doing well, feeling awful and guilty about the weight gain to feeling terrified I'll lose him (at which point I don't care at all about the weight...)

So I'm sorry I've been a bit absent - I just had to get away from it...

I do keep checking back in here though, I think you're all such troopers.

I really hope to hear some success for you all soon.

@ScubaGal thrilled the pregnancy is going well! I'm so glad you are being open about how you are feeling about the weight gain. Eating disorders are really frightening and I totally understand why you are so worried. this is not something you can easily control but it is so important you stay open and talk about it. And weight gain varies! Just make sure you have a plan for support once the baby is here so you don't slip. Take care lovely - and remember that we are all here - the challenges of this journey are greater than just whether or not you can get pregnant xo

Apologies in advance Girls for crashing the thread with my rantings @ ravings...(what's new??lol)

@ScubaGal: Great to hear that everything's A-OK with bub besides the placenta. Had the same issue myself but it ended up moving out of the way not that it mattered as I opted for a C-Section. Anyhoo...Just chiming in to say I totally understand about the weight gain. I used to be morbidly obese years ago and have struggled with weight all of my life. Thanks to the medical fraternity and hard work, I lost all the weight by the time I was 37/38 and was sitting at 54 kg's when I got my BFP.

Despite walking 3 km's almost everyday of my pregnancy from about 15wks on and watching what I ate at least 80-90% of the time, I still stacked on enough for 2 pregnancies Yes, that's right Luv...I even got referred to the dietician up at the hospital for "excessive weight gain with no GD" so you can imagine just how depressed I was which led to being referred to a psychologist to deal with that as well as some other stuff that was happening at the same time mainly to do with my Mum.

Dietician told me after going through my food/exercise regime that there was nothing I could do as it was down to my sh*tty genetics and the obesity gene I have in conjunction with the Preggo hormones = weight gain disaster that I had no control over @ all I could do was to keep doing what I was doing with a few minor changes to try to slow it down @ to wait until after bub was born to lose it.I went from a size 8 to a size 12/14 by the end of my pregnancy @ to date I've only lost just a smidge over 10 kg's...not even at the halfway mark yet despite my best efforts. I understand exactly how you feel Luv. I'm the same even now. It's not trivial ok?? It was really distressing @ a source of anxiety for me to see the scales increase sometimes dramatically from week to week when I was Preggo knowing there was FA I could do about it. Was even worse when I passed the "recommended weight gain in pregnancy" amount @ kept right on going FFS!!

I'm sharing my story with you because I want you to know that you're not alone with the weight struggle and how you feel. So many women have so many different challenges in pregnancy and of course our babies are worth it but just as it's not easy for us ART Girls to get a BFP, it's also not easy for some of us being Preggo either @ just because we got our BFP's through ART doesn't mean we have to STFU about our feelings or struggles lest we appear ungrateful when so many other women are still trying to get theirs....xo
