Default When the kids are sick - things to make them feel better.

My DS is sick at the moment with a virus, high temps and generally unwell. We all know there's nothing like mum when you are sick! It got me thinking as to what 'rituals' or things Mum used to do for me as a child when I was sick. It's funny even though I was sick at the time, I have good memories...

    Some I remember are:
Giving me lemonade or lucozade with a straw
Fruit in a bowl cut into bite size pieces
Mum setting up a bed on the lounge for me
Mum rubbing my back and wiping my forehead with a cool washer
Dad bringing me home a kid magazine or comic

So! What things did your mum/dad/caregiver do for you when you were sick as a child that you remember? Or what things do you do for your children to make them feel better?

I know exactly what you mean about have good memories about being sick. My dad used to bring me home a little bag of mixed lollies from the milk bar which I always loved. Mum would give me massages or 'back tickles' as we used to call them with an essential oil blend. Mum would get me set up on e couch with blankets and put my favourite Disney movie on. Sometimes she'd also read to me (usually an Enid Blyton book like the Magic Faraway Tree) which was always nice as well. Naw mums are the best!!

Clean sheets and clean PJs with a hot water bottle in bed after I got out of the shower! The best.

Dd is feeling a bit unwell and asked if she could eat dinner in bed, so I let her. I remember lemonade & ginger beer, and camping out in the lounge

Mum used to read me anything I wanted and would read for hours. Usually she would read the entire book of the twits by rhold Dahl in one sitting.

If I had a cold, unlimited lemon honey and ginger drinks. And set up on the couch.

Migraines I used to get lemonade and I remember when I had chicken pox I got spiders

Mum used to let us have lemonade and twisties- my MIL would let my DH have lemonade and chicken chips so we'll definitely keep that going!

Mum would also move the TV into my room.

Lucozade, lemonade or home-made custard with hundreds and thousands on top.

Mum worked so if it was a school day going to Nonna Lidia's next door for the day and having chicken soup with mozzarella balls floating in it and unlimited tv and deep leather couches.

Lucozade. I don't think I've had this for at least 30 years. Memories!

Yep, showing our age! Not even the bottled variety, powdered stuff that you made up fizzy and drank.

We used to curl up on the couch and watch some good feel movies.

For us, sick time movies were Goonies, Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles 1 and 2, then followed by Ghostbusters.
Still watch those movies even now when I am unwell.
