Devaki - Well done on hyst...must be comforting to know all is well 'in there'.

Faith - good to hear you heard about your donor...peace of mind.

Kay - Sorry, not sure what your protocol would be between your donor agency and CFC as I went through EDSA and they are affiliated with CFC, so they communicated between themselves.

Crabby - My ET was put back 3 days to allow the donor's eggs to 'cook' for an extra 3 days. We had ET on a Saturday, rested up for the day and then went on a tour down the Cape on Sunday...left on Monday and rested on the plane.

    Hi everyone.

Crabby: as Sunny mentioned, the dates can move, especially if they decide that your donor needs a bit more time ahead of the egg pick up. But it can go the other way as well, especially if circumstances dictate that you have a day 3 transfer.Personally, I'd give yourself at least 2 days between ET and the flight home 'just in case' if you can, or perhaps the flights can be changed if need be?

thanks all for those great quick reply's
Will look into the insurance option and then maybe would have to just adjust one of three flights (mine!).... funny how all the little things become so big and stressful....

    Hi girls,
I supposed to start my stimulation meds on Mon but my period didn't start So finally it did and today is the day one and I had a scan which showed still a relatively thick lining and I was advised to hold on the meds until Thu. That postpones my whole cycle and I would need to postpone donor's cycle too. I'm really worried...I know the donor has already stopped the pill but would that mess with her cycle if she goes back on? If she doesn't restart the pills, would my lining be ready on time!? If I start the pills on Thu, then my first scan is on the 12th day of taking the pills, egg pick up on the 14th and transfer on the 19th day of taking pills. Last time it was 21st day. Does that make any sense? are you familiar with the delay from your side, ie lining not ready? Can they boost the meds to build up the lining quicker?
Though not a drama, I'm still quite worried and upset today....I really hope it won't mess up anything! One day you are happy with the great lining, next day this pretty lining is so stubborn and doesn't wonna come out

Just a quick update - we arrived safely here in Cape Town last night.

It's feels great to be back here. Feeling very calm (maybe too calm?) about this trip and looking forward to hearing how our donor is going on our first appointment tomorrow.

For All the other feb girls wishing you safe travels and hope to catch up in a few days.

For those thinking or about to book flights -we highly recommend getting yourself to Sydney and doing the Sydney-Jo'burg-cape town flight if you live on the East coast. Such an easy trip compared to our Brisbane - Singapore-Jo'burg -Cape Town run that we did last time... I'll also wave the flag for premium economy. The standard of service was as good as business without the expense.

    Hi all,

DJ and Kay: Congratulations on choosing your donor.

Patsy: Great news about your scan. Have you brought any pink things yet? I wouldn’t be able to help myself.

Annabelle1: Good luck with the depot injection. I’m not looking forward to that.

GFS: Congratulations on the birth of your twin girls. It has always been my dream to have twins. I have twin nephews and they are just adorable.

KMP: Great news about your repeat blood test.

Sunny: Thanks for sharing your photo Jesse is super cute.

Sunflower: Congratulations that your boys are now home with you. It must be very tiring but exciting at the same time.

AFM: I am down to four donors also. I am just waiting on a little bit more information. Cyndi from CFC has been a big help. Whoever I saw that mentioned earlier about double checking information about a donor with CFC was great advice as I found a little discrepancy in information I had received. I would be hoping to go over sometime in April if possible.

For the ladies with natural killer cells I am a little worried as I don’t know if Dr W has any protocol for killer cells. With my FS here all we’ve done in the past is use prednisolone and clexane so hoping that will be enough as none of my FS have done intrillipids before.

Sorry to anyone else I’ve missed. Good luck to all the ladies heading to CT soon.

Blinky good news on uour safe arrival.

As an aside Singapore airlines no longer fly to Cape Town (had a discussion with aircrew on one of my flights) so Qantas most direct.

    Hi Devaki

I would email your concerns to your FS and IVF Coordinator straight away. As they are 8 hours behind, they will have plenty of time to email you back.

I know that it is easier said than done because there is so much invested in this, but, please don't panic. CFC have answers to all kinds of scenarios. When we were there, I started bleeding slightly a week before ET. I was devastated because I thought my hormones were not suppressed enough for the transfer. It was a Sunday night and I emailed Dr W and Cyndi straight away and did not expect a reply until the next morning. I was lucky that Dr W was on his computer at the time and he emailed me within 20 minutes. He put my mind at ease and the next day when the donor had EPU and DP was to give his 'sample', Dr W said it was highly unlikely that I would not be suppressed but he sent me down to the floor below the clinic for blood tests to double check. The results came through to Dr W whilst I was there (quickest turn around) and the cost of the blood test was really really cheap. Sure enough I was suppressed and the bleeding could have been due to other medications that I was on at the time.

Also, there are medications that you can take to boost your lining if needed. I have a notoriously thin lining and Dr W had me on a very thorough protocol to thicken my lining. If you would like a list of the medications that I was on, please PM me and Im happy to advise.

Good luck and please don't stress.

Blinky - Good luck hun....I have everything crossed for you.

Lisa - I have elevated ANA (Anti-Nuclear Antibodies) which is linked to immune issues. I don't know if I have NK Cells as my Aussie FS was not prepared to test me because he just put everything down to my old eggs anyway!!! Dr W had me on clexane and a high dose of Prednisolone and I also had the Intraliped Infusion 3 days before ET. I have read that Intraliped is not readily available in Australia not like overseas....international clinics have been using it for years. You cant have it if you a allergic to soy or egg products. You are hooked up to an IV for approximately 2.5 hours.
