Default Egg Donation in South Africa #7

Bertie - Congratulations!! What an amazingly good surprise just in time for Christmas. Wishing you a H & H 9 months

Welcome Devaki! We will be there in Feb. And would love to catch up with whoever is there. As for accommodation we found the website AirBnB very helpful for finding good accommodation. We used it last time and found an excellent apartment in the CBD and the whole process very easy and safe. It meant we could have a self catered apartment to help with costs. This time around we have chosen a 4 star boutique hotel apartment at sea point that we noticed when we were there last time. Both options were/are economical At under $120 AUD a night! With a budget of under $200 a night you should be able have quite a few good places to chose from.

Also if you are staying in the CBD or near the V & A a hire car is probably not imperative as you can catch the train to the clinic (about 6 stops from memory + 10 min walk) and everything else is close by (shops, restaurants etc) however we did like the freedom a car offered to explore places a little further out like Stellenbosch, Cape of Good Hope, Simons town etc. it wasn't expensive either (about $300 AUD for two weeks).

    thanks for the hellos
is great to read about the good news - MCG Bertie keeping everything crossed
am a true believer in when you relax and forget - things happen!
CTF replied almost immediately with info last weekend - paperwork of this week was finalizing permanent residency application, next weeks is gathering the test results for the clinic! Persuaded DH with the Jazz festival in CT at end of March i think - am trying for earlier if possible though!
Do feel a bit of a fraud and scared as never had 'own' IVF like many of you ladies have had - but the odds for me are so low that advice to skip to DEs makes sense - so no experience with injections/hormones and the stresses of IVF.
Anyway onwards and upwards and happy holidays to all and may all our new years wishes come true!

    Hi Ladies,
Sorry I have posted in a while but I have been reading and trying to gather all the information I can.

Congratulations to Mardicharli and MGC Bertie on your recent positives. Such a lovely Christmas present and hope everything goes smoothly for you both. I'm sorry if I have missed anyone.

AFM: I have sent off the tests to Dr W except the FSH test on day 3 because for some reason I've skipped a month with my periods which could be due to the fact that I had a stim IVF cycle without a transfer and then straight onto a frozen cycle.

My partner is home from work for Christmas for a couple of weeks where we will spend some time going through donor profiles. The clinics have sent me their recommendations as I sent photos of myself to them but at a quick glance a lot of them are not suitable because of medical reasons.

Wanted to ask you ladies about Faith from Footprints? CFC passed my details onto her and she has contacted me about helping me booking accommodation, car hire and anything else I need. Did any of you ladies get some help from her? I was wondering whether it was worthwhile me doing it as I've never been overseas before and thought it could help.

Hope you all have a lovely Christmas and bring on all the positives in 2015.

    Hi everyone,

As I had some spotting early after transfer, by fs asked me to do a hcg and progesterone bt at 7dp3dt... Very early... The result showed some hcg level - 14... But it is very early, only 7 days past transfer with day 3 embryos... So next bt on the 2nd...

Just for your knowledge, my fs stopped my clexane and aspirin...

Myheart: That HCG result is sounding promising, fingers crossed it continues to rise!

DJ: How did your appointment with your specialist go?

Crabby and Devaki: Welcome to the forum. If you get the time, have a read back through some of the past forums and cut and paste useful tips into another file, I found it invaluable.

I travelled with a six year old and would go for self-catering with a child as I think it makes things easier. We also hired a car (with booster seat) which wasn't too expensive which made sight-seeing and getting out of town a lot easier. But you certainly don't need to, the red bus covers a lot of the things you probably want to see (although doesn't go to Claremont...you'll need a taxi/train for that).

Also just wanted to say hello and wish everyone on this thread (past and present) a very Merry Christmas. I've said it before but I don't think I would have gone to CT without all your advice and support. May 2015 be a good year for everyone!

AFM: Hanging out for my 10 week scan on Jan 6. Feeling ok apart from feeling extremely tired all the time. Lack of any other symptoms are making me fret a little but I think that's just my nature, unfortunately.

Just looking at people's dates when in CT and looks like I will just miss most of you 😞. I'll be there 23 - 25th Feb (not long!).

My flights are booked and just have to book some accom.

I use the Uber app when over there instead of cabs. I just feel safer - no money is handed over (your card gets charged via the app) and it tells you who the driver is and the number plate. Great service.

When there in July with my fiancé we hired a car, but in Sept I was there on my own so got An Uber car to CFC and back.

Will do the same this time in Feb as will be alone again.

    Merry Christmas everyone!!
