Lillie - welcome and thank you so very much for having the courage to post and make me feel a lot better. Thank you!
I think a lot of us were long time readers before joining in. I know I read along for nearly 2 years before my first post.
Thank you again, it's good to know that low starting numbers can lead to a nice healthy pregnancy. Congratulations!

Miss Sagi - I think it was you that mentioned an Adelaide catchup? I know I certainly would be interested after Christmas if all goes well with this pregnancy.

Thanks again for everyone's support today. Having my test on way to work tomorrow so hopefully not a repeat of yesterday's stresses! Xx

Mardi - promising news, keeping everything crossed.

AFM - just having a bit of a bleat since I don't really have anyone else to complain to (it's not really serious). I'm just finding it really hard to figure dates out for our transfer trip. I got the failed cycle results early November. Stopped the meds - took a couple of weeks for my cycle to start. Then that cycle was 31 days - longer than normal. It's just hard to really figure out timing not knowing if my cycle will return back to a standard 28 days or not - I think the ivf over the last couple of years has played havoc with it a little. And then there's the DH work complications. Have worked out 2 sets of possible dates that he can put forward for early February or early march... But I think I may crack it if we have to put it off longer lol. Anyway, hopefully my dates are fairly ok.. Sigh.

Default Egg Donation in South Africa #7

Mardi - I'm going with a big fat WOOOOHOOOO for this one. They do test earlier than specialists here, so it is very promising, no it's bloody exciting news. Congratulations Hun. Looking forward to your updates. Much love to you and the belly bean. I am so pleased your FS rang you. What a good specialist. Xx

Faith and KLM - thank you for your lovely kind words. Xx

Lille - thank you for popping in and providing support to Mardi. Likewise a huge Congrats on your wonderful news. Xx

Blinky - I actually have two professional quals, one of which as an RN and theatre is my specialty. Generally speaking, unless necessary, surgery for pregnant women is not recommended, for reasons similar to that with other drugs. Anaesthetics include administration of opiates and you will likely require post operative pain relief. All complicated by pregnancy. Furthermore, depending upon the type of reconstruction they may or may not use intra operative II (X-ray). Something you would have to confirm with your Orthopod.

What painful timing for you, but I personally would have it done beforehand. Xx

Hoping4 - timing and working around work commitments is a true pain. Similarly, I am waiting for my period. Ironically I bleed from three days post transfer until the day I found out I was negative then not a drop!!!

Perhaps ask Wazza for his advice and what will work in best with your uterine 'scratch'. Xx

Mardi and Konza - Congrats on your BFP. I am glad your FS explained all to you, and put your mind at ease. I agree with what the ladies say.. It's all about what the beta does after 48hrs . Try relax and enjoy your pregnancy.

MardiCharli & Konza congrats on your BFP, hope your numbers keep going up! Anything above 25 is pregnant & as the others said as long as your numbers keep doubling that is what matters! Look forward to hearing some big numbers from your 2nd test! (Lille so great to hear your story and positive outcome!)

January wow you are in the final stretch congrats. Do you know if you are having a boy or girl or is it a surprise?

Blinky bummer about your ankle probably makes sense to get the surgery done before you embark on ED I would think

Hoping certainly hope your cycle co-operates it sure can be frustrating and you should bleat away (have to admit that's a new term for me LOL) that's what this forum is for!

Yogagirl good luck in your donor search! That was the hardest part for me and it took me a long long time

So great to have everyone on here for support in this crazy journey!

Hi everyone. So we've just got back from our first scan and found out that there was one sac there (DH looked relieved but I was almost a bit disappointed that there weren't two in a completely crazy sort of way) with a strong heartbeat. So, another milestone passed. I'm seven weeks tomorrow, but still taking it day by day, as I'm still being very cautious.Next scan is at 10 weeks which is apparently the "Harmony" scan/blood test if we want it. Need to read up about this as it didn't exist when I had my six year old. Did anyone else have this done?Mardi and Konza: Congrats on your positive BFP and hope you have a good figure from your second blood test.Yogagirl: Good luck in your donor search. Definitely the hardest part for me, too. In the end, we focussed more on the health side/family history than physical attributes (although did go for someone fairly tall, as me and DH are fairly tall as well). We also went for a proven donor although our cycle produced the worst results out of all of her cycles but, as we've proved, you just need one good embie...January: Good luck for next week! And hello to everyone else. xx

Patsy, the Harmony test I did at 10 weeks was a blood test. When I did the test they sent the blood to the US, so it took about 10 days to get the results. They test for Trisomy 21, 13 and I think 18 and they can also test for issues with the sex chromosomes, which means they can also tell you the sex. It was an expensive test and cost us $900.00 but it was entirely optional. I don't know if the test is routine now or come down in price but with young eggs, it probably isn't as necessary to fork out the extra cash if you don't want to - although it is nice to find out the sex in the first trimester!

    It's a BFP!!
Hcg today - 87 which still isn't high but has doubled since Tues. My FS assures me it's just because we tested so early. He's booked me in for another blood test Mon just to triple check, but also booked us in for a scan and gave us a due date of Aug 16th!
I am sooo happy with my FS (good choice Miss Sagi!!). I asked if I could pretty please have our scan before Christmas (as we are going away for a week) and he's coming in on the 22nd, his theatre day (he does all his planned inductions/csections on one day) which he doesn't usually do, just to do our scan for us. Top service! He did explain we would only just be over 6 weeks and might not see a heartbeat yet but said we could check to see if there are one or two sacs! No way I was even thinking 2 with our low numbers!!
Anyway, it's slowly sinking in that after 18 rounds of IVF we are finally having another baby! Yay! I was so excited I fell asleep on the couch tonight - think I'm emotionally drained.
Thank you again so very much for all the love and support, especially over the last few days, it has been a huge help! Xxxx

January - a quick note to say it's wonderful your little one is hanging in there and all the best for next week. THE best gift ever!! Xxx

Patsy - wonderful to hear your scan went well. I do know how you felt re one not two heartbeats though. It's wonderful to see one but I know for me when I got pregnant with my son, there was a slight twinge of sadness for the other embryo. You will be too busy soon to remember that though. Xxx
