Congratulations Emski she is so adorable.
Congratulations Emski she is so adorable.
Hey everybody, I just realised today (Friday) that my post didn't go through yesterday so resending again (hope it's not a double post). Emski, congratulations!! I just love the name you picked, very elegant!
Patsy, I'm sorry to hear you don't have any to freeze but I'm so glad to hear you're officially PUPO. I still don't know what PUPO means but will google it too. Remember the best place for an embryo is inside you, so remind yourself that you have a special passenger on board right now & take care.
I'm so excited about EPU tomorrow, I'm sending positive vibes to our donor in the hope we get good eggs & she's relaxed. DH also can't wait as he gets to officially start drinking his scotch again. He's been so good staying off it for months now.
Williteverhappen, wow you transferred 3! What if they all take? I have my fingers crossed for both you & Patsy & I can't wait to meet you both on the 18th!
AFM, we drove down to Muizenberg beach & had Hake at Kalk Bay. It's such a quaint fishermans town. Then drove back to Claremont via Constantia & stopped at Groot Constantia winery, which was so beautiful! Then did a spot of DFO a shopping at Access Park in Kenilworth. I will update you on how we went with EPU.
Hope everyone else is doing okay :-)
PUPO = pregnant until proven otherwise
Patsy - we didn't get any frosties from our previous DE cycle, but got our gorgeous little man. Hope the 2ww flys by.
Hope4all - Sending big lovely vibes to your donor today. Xx
Williteverhappen - Hoping you are feeling better today. Likewise I hope the 2ww flys. Xx
AFM - Getting the last minute things organised for our pending departure on Monday. I have a new toy for every hour of awake time on the plane and going to get some Brauers Calming Baby/Children's drops from the Health food store tomorrow. Then just packing!!! Oh and leaving home at 03:00 for a 06:30 flight due to the bloody G20. Still avoiding packing, as packing will make it all very real and at this time I am trying to stay calm!
All the very best. Xxx

Emski, what beautiful news. I'm sure Edies birthday made the last few years of heartache worth it. I hope you're both recovering quickly, she is gorgeous.
To the girls in CT wishing you all the best with positive vibes. All sounds good so far and I love hearing how everyone is having the holiday of a lifetime. Remember, a specialist can't really look at an embryo and tell you what it's like, truth is they have no idea about quality. What will get you a result is determination, persistence and a little bit of luck and for all of us after years of trying, have these traits
Annabelle, I know exactly how you feel. I told my family what i was planning to do at the start of my IVF journey, they were supportive...'whatever makes you happy', but underlying with my mum, as she text me on my very first failed OE cycle and last cycle 2yrs later 'oh well, you gave it a go and it's not meant to be' (not once but twice). This is from a women who nagged me from the day i turned 18 to give her grandchild. I then had to tell her I'm going to SA for DE....let's just say her opinion was heard. In an email to her friend she told her that she didn't want me to go, from that day she hasn't stopped crying about me like I've just been diagnosed with a terminal illness. I've tried to tell her she needs perspective but she's out of control, she actually said to me if I go to SA 'how do know i won't have a black baby or come back with aids'. My mum is so closed minded i think she thinks i'll go over there, stay in a village walking on red dirt, sleeping in mud huts watching the masi mai jumping up and down with their huge necklaces around their necks and peeking behind a stick bush. I've tried for 2yrs yrs to fill her with knowledge on IVF to understand, but she doesn't want to know, I even saved this forum on her favourites to read the extraordinary life experience of other aussies, but she 'doesn't have time to read it' even though she only works 20hrs a week! As you can imagine this cuts through my soul, but you know what, it's my life and only I can determine when this journey is over, don't let anyone else's opinion tell you other wise. Although I walk this journey alone I have 4 great people in my life who support me (luckily one is my manager) even i they don't understand how it all works. If you have someone like that lean on them and don't worry about the others. This forum is a great bunch of aussies who give each other hope and confidence, when everyone in your own life don't get it. If it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't have even considered DE, so stay with us :-)
To the ladies expecting, I hope every thing is going well, I love reading about your pregnancy journey.
Laned and Charlie, i hope you're both ready....you're next.
Mrserin, hoping that blood clot has nearly disappeared so you go move around again......you are the queen of determination and persistence, not sure how long i would last horizontally!
Blinky, i hope you're feeling better, IVF is all about the rollacoaster, but we endure it, some days better than others.
DJ, glad to hear you're just about on the roundabout with us again....all looking good for you. When do you think you'll get going again?
Chillout, i am a stresser, i worry about everything. I've had to teach myself to go with it, you have an end goal and just concentrate on that, everything in the middle is just a bump in the road and we can deal with them when the time comes (i may not be all the way there but better than what i was).
MGCBertie, half way through your 2www, i hope you're keeping yourself busy.
AFM just waiting around for my plan, hopefully I'll see it within the next 4wks. I think i found cooler bag for my 'golden' immune drugs that will last 24hrs while travelling.
I wish i had a computer, i would post every day, but i have a tablet and with predictive text that i can't seem to turn off, a 2min post seems to take me an hour....it does my head in, but know i'm reading along every day.
Hi to everyone else
@Chillout71 - both us and our donor nominated at the time do donation that if the laws change in SA our child could contact the donor (for which I am very grateful). Australia is a bit of a nightmare for DE even having to get government approval to advertise for a donor. I hope my child understands when he is a bit older (and he will always know he was donor conceived so no shock factor to deal with hopefully). I have quite a few photos of the donor to show him if he wants to see them too. He will always know how absolutely adored by us his parents and our extended family he is and in my view, that's the main thing.

Thanks for the updated roll call January.... Not long to go until you reach the graduate list ...
Looks like Cape Town will be busy in February too
Thanks for everyone's well wishes. Feeling ok now, finding my missing cat, a decent night sleep and some time to digest can do wonders. May sound stupid but I think I was prepared for day 3 if it was due to lack of quantity and erring on side of caution but when we had 6 embies that were ALL slow growing to me it became about quality which worried me given the "quality not quantity" mantra. But as so many of you have pointed out, and as the roll call suggests (thanks January), day 3s aren't necessarily anything to worry about :-)
Had a lovely dinner with Hopeforall and her DH lastnight in CT, we have a new restaurant recommendation...richardscapetown.co.za - it's about $50 per head inc drinks which seems a little expensive based on SA prices but includes yummy 3 course meal and some fun, slightly cheesey, African entertainment (singing dancing and story telling) over 3.5-4 hours. Anyone interested in going please PM me and I'll pass on personal contact details for our host who gave us VIP seats. We all thoroughly enjoyed it.
Hope for all (15-11-2014)
It was great catching up with you & your lovely DH last night Williteverhappen, such a fun night!! Enjoy your studying today :-)
Yesterday we visited Two Oceans Aquarium. It was okay, I have to say I had higher expectations being in such a high touristy area. If anyone has ever been to Underwater World on the Sunshine Cosst in Qld you'll find it hard to compare. We still enjoyed it & for only R125 how could anyone complain.
Not sure what to do today but we might go to Milnerton Markets which are only open on Sats & Subdays & this being our last & only weekend in CT we'll check it out.
Patsy, hope you're doing well & having fun in CT also. Looking forward to our catch up dinner Tues night with everyone.
Well our lovely donor had her EPU yesterday. She gifted us 13 eggs which we're really happy about. Today we'll be getting a phone call to find out how many have fertilised. I really hope we get a few embies to play with but its left up to nature now & we have no control over it really. We also picked up the gestone & had my first injection yesterday. All I can say is Wowza it hurts!! Not the injection itself but a few hours later & even still this morning I have a giant red lump that's really sore & painful! Is this normal?? Hopefully it's just because I wore a tight dress for hours afterwards which might have irritated the area. :-/
