Thanks everyone for the shopping tips, will now buy up with a bit more confidence!

Patsy - congrats again on such good news, as promised I had a celebratory drink for you lastnight. Have fun on the tour today and good luck for tomorrow.

Hopeforall - glad you arrive safely and hope you're feeling better. Enjoy Robben Island today.

Laned - hope you're feeling a little more upbeat today? My cousin had two IVF babies and said that the longing for the second is actually stronger than the first because you know what you're missing. You have every right to, and every chance of more magic in Africa. Xx

AFM - our donor blessed us with 10 eggs of which 6 were mature enough to inject. 5 of those fertilized so I will hear tomorrow whether we go in for a day 3 or day 5 transfer. Given we have MFI and my last OE cycle resulted in nothing to transfer I'm pretty happy with this result!

Hope everyone is keeping well and will update you again once I know date of transfer (either Thurs or Sat).

    X

    Hi lovely ladies...

I am hanging on in the background..getting on with life after my leukaemia diagnosis. At this stage it all looks good. The chemo was back in April and my blood tests are ok. I am having another bone marrow biopsy in December or January and with a successful result (remission), I will be back on the band wagon again and am planning at this stage to head back March/April/May. Infact, I touched base with the lovely Cyndi today. My specialist is confident that I should be fine but he wont give me the green light until he is 100% sure.

Laned??? We so need to chat.. I am going to call you!

    Anait/Sunny...cycle buddies again??

Luv to you all. Is there a Roll Call?? I would love to see what everyone is up to.

    Donna xx

Patsy - I am so pleased for you. Someone on here (I forget who) had said something very similar had happened to them I.e. Expecting a day 3 transfer but ended up with a 5 day. I have a good feeling for you.

Laned - gosh Warren must have had quite the day... I was in there today as well and despite convincing myself I would keep it together I didn't.. There were tears. Part of the problem is he is just so caring - if he didn't show me the amount of care and concern he did maybe I'd have had a chance lol.
Re the adoption discussion - we had thought about it but it just seems so hard to do it almost seems impossible.

Luca - at this point we will be back there feb/march next year (seems so far away) but I really want a big giraffe - did you just organise that thru a shop - or did you purchase and go somewhere else for shipping?

Williteverhappen - glad things are progressing well and you're feeling good about things.

AFM - well as mentioned I went to see my FS today. He went thru my DHs results - which are a little old now - but he doesn't believe there should be any major issue, so hopefully there is no MFI. We spoke about NK Cells and I will go ahead with testing - more for my peace of mind then anything. Warren is trying to tell me these frosties could still have a good chance at success - but I think I'm going to have trouble finding a lot of huge positivity for our next trip... But I have some time to work on that.

    Take care everyone :-)

    Hi Everyone,

Like others I have been quietly following in the background and taking in the wealth of knowledge and experience in this group.

Please forgive me if I don't congratulate and send well wishes to all you lovely ladies and gents individually, but I think you all deserve it and I don't want to miss anyone.

Even following this group in silence I still have the feeling that I am already on my journey (which will start soon). I don't know about others but the warmth and camaraderie from all the posts makes me feel so happy and positive.

I was wondering if people who are over in CT at the moment or are about to leave can let others know what airline they flew with and the name of their accomodation and their opinion on their choice?

    Thanking you in advance. 😊

A great big thank you to everyone for your kind words of encouragement and support. Gotta love the fert drugs!!!

Blinky - pleased you had a better day today. Baby steps Hun, this is an emotional ride. Be kind to yourself. Xx

Williteverhappen - Go go the fabulous five. Everything crossed for beautiful embies. Xx

Patsy - great news Hun that is fabulous. So pleased for you. Enjoy the hop on hop off bus. Xx

DJ - Darling girl, your post just opened the flood gates. Tears of joy flowing here about your bloods. It would be such a wonderful gift to have you in the clear and back on the bandwagon. Much love to you. Xx

Hoping4best - I'm sorry to read about your tough day too. See it is in the Brisvegas air...mmmmm G20 clearly has a lot to answer for!!! I must say though, reading your post did make me laugh, poor Wazza bless his cotton socks. I am sure some of the patient's must think what's going on there, as I always give him a hug and a kiss when I leave .

Nic - A big warm welcome to this wonderful group. I wish you every bit of success on your pending journey. As for airline, we flew with Qantas, mainly due to direct flights. As for accommodation, we stayed at the Protea North Wharf last time and are staying there again this time. It is a bit more expensive this time due to season. We chose it as it is close to V&A and the city centre (both walking distance), it is a self contained one bedroom apartment, with full room service including in room dining. So you can cook (long st farmers market is literally across the street) or order room service. It also had a washer dryer. I liked it due to its size as we didn't fall over each other, which can happen in a hotel room. It is also about 100 m from the Hop on hop off bus bus stop. The Sun hotel next door also had a Europe car hire franchise and the hotel had free parking. Very handy. Xx

    Welcome Nic1970!
With our first trip to SA we flew from Brisbane to Singapore and then over to Cape Town via Jo'burg. (Singapore airlines). The flight itself was fine but with stopovers etc the trip was long and felt longer...
This time around we were lucky enough to get a special with Qantas so we are flying Bris/Syd/Jo 'burg/Cape Town in January. By doing this we will leave in the morning and arrive at 8pm in Cape Town on the same 'day'.
My DH is quite tall (6'4) so we have also gone premium economy this time so he doesn't have to be human origami to get into the seats.
As for accommodation : last time we got an apartment on airbnb website. It was in the CBD and was great! Unfortunately we will be in peak time in January so it wasn't available. So this time we are staying at sea point at a place called atlantic affair boutique hotel. (It looks nice in the pics so I guess we will see)

    Hi everyone.
I was hoping that I could join your group.
I have just turned 42, I am single and have been doing IVF with my own eggs and donor sperm for the past 2 years with no success. It has been pretty full on but I have coped pretty well emotionally considering I’ve done 9 fresh cycles, 6 FET with 2 pregnancies and 2 missed miscarriages discovered at 7 week scans.

Last month I decided I had had enough and it was time to move on to an egg donor to achieve my dream of a baby. Once I had decided things have moved quickly and I have selected a donor and am hoping for treatment to commence in February 2015.

I have told my sisters about the travel to SA for donor eggs. My younger sister who has kids completely understands my need to keep trying where my older also single sister just doesn’t get it.
I’m at the point where I just don’t care what anyone thinks, I need to do this. Has anyone else had similar experiences with their family on telling them of your plan to travel to SA for donor eggs?
I have not told mum & dad yet but they have been very supportive of my IVF treatment.

Patsy - awesome to hear! Keep growing little embies!!
Laned - So glad you are feeling a bit better. Must admit my emotions are going haywire at the moment and I'm blaming the drugs too!
Sorry just a quickie as I have yet another question. Am thinking of you all and will do personals tomorrow. Just need to book ASAP and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good car rental place in Cape Town and if you know if they rent car seats for a 4 year old too??
Hope everyone is doing well. Xx
