@MGC Bertie congrats on getting to the end of the 1st tri. Such a nice milestone to reach!! Regarding what to tell people, my 2c worth: I tell most people that we did ivf. My ivf journey was not as long as yours (7cycles 2 bubs and I'm 36 now) so people don't suspect we had issues if they didn't know. I am comfortable talking about it and educating people about ivf and dispelling any myths or weird ideas people might have. Most people don't really know what to ask (especially men) but I have been able to help some work colleagues who have a friend or family member considering or going thru ivf to understand it a bit better. I think the more people know about ivf the better it is understood and accepted as a genuine medical issue. I'm sure we've all read comments sections on news articles about ivf and been horrified by the ignorance of some of them. Of course if u don't feel comfortable talking about it then that is fine too I understand just wanting to move on with life now and put all those rough days behind and really it is none of their business!!

I posted this pic on ig and fb as a sort of 'announcement' at 21w with a comment about having to wear my DH's cycling tops now

Akakura.... I so agree with you about telling people that it was IVF, I just have to have a few more conversations with DH to convince him.

AFM....rather freaked out again, as on way home (5.30pm) was listening to all my phone messages from the day, and there was one from the U/S place where I had my 12 week scan and NT BT on Tuesday - it said, "Can you come and pick up your NT results and take them to your specialist as it's high risk?" OMG, who leaves a message like that - now I have to stress all night, as the place was already closed at 5pm, so can't go and get them until tomorrow, before I go to my ob appointment. I first had a cry. Then I composed myself, saying that this was the whole point of doing these tests, was to find out now. Then I got mad and googled, and found that NT thickness should be under 3.5mm, and my baby was measured at 1.7mm, so from what I've read, that's not "high risk". Or maybe, it's got a "high risk" of something else? I know there's nothing I can do, but gosh, it's going to be a long 18 hours until I pick up those results.

That sucks MGC and totally inappropriate phone message. I wonder if it is just age related risk rather than anything they have seen from the results. Fingers crossed with those results.
Hope everyone else is doing ok here at the moment. I had a bit of paranoia this past week so went for a 3d scan to check baby was still moving around. We found out we're having a girl, I'm 17+4 now and growing a belly lol. I say that like I'm surprised cos I kinda am - it's all so weird.

@MGC Bertie oh that is an awful message to leave someone!! I hope it's just because of ur age that it is 'high risk'. 1.7mm is very within normal like u know. Mine was 2.5mm and I freaked out a bit but they need to compare with ur bt results u did at 10w to get a risk factor. My Ob said anything higher(lower?) than 1in 300 is considered high risk, which is still 299 chances things are all good and most high risk go on to be all good. So hard to have to wait. You should tell them not to leave messages like that for others. Thinking of you.

@MGC Bertie I can't believe they did that to you - I would have thought there would have been at least basic training on how to deal with these things sensitively. Let us know how you go

@MGC Bertie what an unprofessional message for someone to leave on a phone. I know its probably not your priority at the moment, obviously getting your results are, but I'd be following this up at some stage with the clinic. I'm anxious about my pregnancy most of the time and receiving a message like that, especially when I couldn't contact anyone til the next day would have made me an absolute mess. I hope you managed to get some sleep last night and that you get some good information today. Thinking of you.

@McG Bertie I cannot believe they left that msg on ur phone! That is so inappropriate. What time is ur ob appt?
Re: what to say to people about ivf, I haven't done as many cycles as you or used donor sperm, but for me I told lots of people we did ivf. With ds I mostly just told them if they said something like 'had used been trying long' & them I'd tell them it was ivf. If they then asked more I would tell as much as they wanted to know. Some people were really interested & if don't think people talk enough about it. Also I'm really 'proud' of my ivf journey & u definitely should be! But it's a very personal choice because I also know some mums in my mother's group that haven't told anyone else because it's a very private event for them.

Argh just had my panorama test results come back 'inconclusive' - so frustrating and nerve wracking. Starting the clock again for another two week wait...
