Oh no. It seems quite unfair that so many (someone at DH's work said over 10,000) will be fined and many will be due to there being a lack of advertising. One letter can be easily missed or put aside or look like junk mail if it bares any resemblance to their usual advertising of projects that they are doing.

We were aware that the bi-election was coming up and it was due to corruption, but I still wouldn't be able to tell someone which electorates were involved. We had no idea it was on on the weekend.

There should have been signs up in the community as well. Particularly for parents with young children who don't always see the news.

There was no signage in our area that I noticed.

I think the figures speak for themselves - it just wasn't well promoted.

This is the first time I've ever forgotten to vote.

Hopefully if enough people complain then they will have to waiver the fines.

The number I called was the NSW Electoral Commission 1300 135 736.

Did you hear that Chapman has written to the Premier to ask that the fines be waivered? It was in the paper today. We were out and about quite a bit on Saturday and we didn't see any signs even though we were driving through the areas that were voting. Apparently 1 out of every 5 people didn't vote.
