    Default Best family sized car

    Hello!

I have an almost 2 yr old a 5 yr old and a 10 yr old. So two in carseats still and a growing boy.

We need a car that will fit all three comfortably! Good on fuel, and preferably one we can get reasonably new (few yes old lowish km etc) for approx $30,000

    GO!

How many seats? Do just want a 5 seater or would look at a 7/8 seater.

We have an Xtrail that is quite comfortable even with either 3 carseats or 3 adults in the back.

Ours is a 2014 model so probably over the 30k mark but even the earlier models are quite roomy.

I also have VW Jetta. Fits 3 carseats but its a tight fit. Much more room when one is out of carseat. Amazing on fuel, I get over 700km to a tank (costs about $80 to fill as I have to use 98)

The xtrail is more comfortable for the kids but I absolutely love the Jetta.

Prius V!!! Brand new drive away for 32k so you could easily could a year earlier or demo model for 30k. It has a huuuuge boot but also 2 seats (folded down when you don't need them) which are comfortable. I go in my friends all the time and it is such a fab car. She averages 4.3L/100km, anchor points are all on the back seat and seats move individually so you can move them back/forth and recline without uninstalling.

For that price you should be able to get sonething pretty good. The xtrail is just over the 30 mark brand new and I loved it to test drive, roomy but doesn't feel like you are driving a tank, we decided against it because of fuel costs. The ix35 is also in that price range. You could also look at some of the less common brands think vw, skoda and Renault.

We are about to get a skoda Octavia wagon. Not sure how it would go with 2 car seats and a 10yr old but it felt very roomy and us under 30 and good on fuel.

I must admit we have a fuel card so dont notice how much it costs but we get over 700kms to a tank usually which isnt too bad. But again, I would have no clue how much it costs us to fill, I just hand over the card.

A 2nd hand X5 or the baby version X3 go for well below $30,000. They are comfortable and fit car seats well. They average 900 - 1,000 km per tank and are diesel. If I didn't enjoy hardcore 4x4ing I would have bought one myself
