    Lightbulb Facebook Question: Do you...?

Do you use your real name?

I don't use Facebook as I have always felt uncomfortable putting my life online for everyone to see. It offers very little privacy protection.

However, a course I've recently enrolled in is asking that we join a related Facebook group and I'm in a bit of a quandary over it.

    What are your thoughts please?

I do use my name but I have my security settings set quite high so hopefully only people on my friends list can see anything unless I have chosen to allow it to be viewable to the public.

I created a fake Facebook account so j could access Instagram. I use the facebook account only to ask questions on public pages. I'm not interested in ever having a facebook profile or posting personal stuff or following people.

Set one up as mrs tickle, or hairy mclary or what takes your fancy,
you don't have to put all your own details in, just make it up to access your course.

I use my real name, as do the majority of my friends. I'm comfortable with the level of privacy I have.

One of my friends had some issues and changed her Facebook name and beefed up her privacy settings. Say her name was for example Rebecca Kate Wilson, her name appears as Beck Kate now. Her middle name has been used as a surname. Perhaps this could work for you?

Or you could make up a false name altogether? I'm good at making up names if you want some suggestions

I use my real name but have high security settings, i.e. profile can't be searched for on Google, only friends can see my photos/posts/comments, and I don't have any of my contact information accessible to anyone. There's only one or two of my friends who use fake names. I've never had a problem security wise.

I use my real name, but I have extremely high security settings and Ive recently deleted a lot of people.

But I am very selective about what I post about. I try not to whinge or be negative (of course I do sometimes but not often) and I never ever post about money or fights/arguments with people.

I use my real name but have very high security settings & only add people I actually know.

I use it to stay in touch with friends & am very selective about what I post, like & be tagged in on my timeline.
