I try tokeep itunder $20. Each of the kids gets about 10 invites a year times $20, it's a budget that's very easy to blow if I'm not careful! I try to pick stuff up on special when I see it. The bulk of parties we are invited to require girly presents so I usually have some books, games and dolls stashed away. I get a pack of 10 blank cards from the $2 shop so the kids can decorate and write their own cards (expensive cards still just go in the bin next week). If it's a close friend or I see something that is perfect for the child the I'll spend a bit more.

I'd spend $20 and probably look for something on sale that was once $35
Providing it was relevant to gender/age of course

If it's a kinder party, I'd spend about $30, but for close friends and my niece and nephew, I spend $50.

I think this is a great idea. I hope I remember it when Dd reaches birthday party age.
