    Default School Shoes - Again

    Hi Mums,
What are your recommendations for shoes for a 6yr old girl? We are on the 3rd pair for the year and they desperately need replacing. Can anyone recommend shoes that will actually last? Is it normal to go through a pair of shoes a term?

Cant recommend a pair as i have a boy and we go through a new pair basically every term. His last pair didnt even last 1 term. Towards the end of the year, i usually let him wear whatever shoes he has as they are all sneakers. As long as his shoes are tidy and not some out there colours,i dont mind what shoes he wears.

I have tried buying expensive shoes but they seem to last just as long as the cheaper shoes so I usually buy a cheaper pair from payless every term for ds. I only buy the sneaker type as he is so active and we dont have to change them for sports days.

Yes we buy sneakers too. At the start of the year I got her a pair of Fila joggers from Target which wern't cheap for Target shoes, then we scored 2 pairs of the Michelle Bridges joggers at Big W but she has destroyed all of them. I'm glad I'm not the only one it's happening to!

DS has a pair of $80 sneakers from Athlete's Foot. They were new this year and still going strong. I can't remember the brand but I believe they have a warranty for 6 or 12 months.

Clarks. They last the year every time. I wouldn't ever buy anything else.

Our asics have lasted us 3 terms... That's with running, chasing and sand play every day.

They're not the cheapest but they have lasted longer than any of the cheapie a I've bought before for preschool.

My DS6 is incredibly hard on his shoes. The ONLY ones to have lasted are his Sketcher Sneakers. They have a leather upper and come in cool colours. So many other brands just offer white leather so it was nice to have a choice.

We had previously been buying Lynx (the leather sneaker for my son, my daughter in the mary jane style leather shoe) and every year they had needed to be replaced by the end of the first semester. I thought we would try the same style of shoe in the Clarks this year and they have lasted us all year and we won't be replacing until the beginning of next year.
