    Default contractions started the stopped!!

So last night I woke up to strong and painful contractions 10 mins apart for about 2 hours. Then they started to get further apart then not as painful. .. so I went back to sleep... woke up and nothing... i'm 39w 5d and sooooooo over it.

    Ds1 was induced.
Ds2 was spontaneous at 39w 3d... and when labour started it was on until he was born...no false alarms...

I assumed that this time I would go a little early being #3... but she's holding on!!! Why would the contractions start then stop? She's fully engaged and ready to go and I'm ready to get her out!!

After a false start like this how long until real labour would start? I've only had a few braxton hicks today... nothing else... how common is it to go over 40 weeks or be induced with #3?

I had 5-7 days of false labour, kinda every second night for baby 2&3. With no3 I actually called my in laws around 2am and by mid- morning - nothing 😞, however they stayed the rest of the day, helped with the others and then during dinner prep contractions started again. Ds2 was born approx 8hrs later. That on off labour is awful! I'm not sure why it went like that for me. Hope you bub comes soon! I'm 37+1 and hoping to go a little early this time!!

Either that or you may get a few of these false starts and end up having a very quick "active labour"
I'm not sure, I've been told both,, just yesterday at the hospital the mid wife said back on back and then the doctor said normal. .. I can never tell what way babies lay inside... so i don't know...

If it's posterior there is a load of great info in 'spinning babies' website. Some simple positions that you could try - especially if/when contractions start again. I did a lot of the lunge type moves (leg up on the bed) to help get bubs into a good position.

I had about 3-4 days of contractions on and off. It was awful at the time, but brilliant in that I then I was fully dilated very quickly into full-on labour, and it was over and done with way quicker than I expected!

This happened with my third baby too.

Contractions on and off for a few days - it hadn't happened with my first two and was driving me crazy! Then when it finally got serious and we went to the hospital, she arrived very quickly.

Good luck - I hope your little one arrives soon
