Well we had our appointment with the new FS last Wednesday and both DH and I LOVE him! We walked out of there feeling so positive and happy, I'm so glad we changed. Thanks for encouraging me to do that @Shrillian

I'm currently writing this from hospital, just had a full lap & dye etc. apparently my tubes are perfect, everything was all good, just a couple of small adhesions he was able to remove really easily.

He suggested last week that we at least get some of my eggs on ice pretty quick, since he wants us to be able to plan a family, not only focus on this one baby to be. That way, if we need to come back in 2 years time for a second, we'll have 36 year old eggs to work with instead of 38 year old eggs. He at first suggested IUI but then realised I was 36 (was really quite funny, he was dictating a letter in front of us and suddenly went "OMG you're 36! I read that but it didn't click because you look so young!" So I thought "oh great, thanks for making me feel old...but woo hoo that I don't look it" haha ) so he then said he'd prefer we move straight to IVF if we were cool with that. We're ready for that now, so I have my follow up appointment next Tuesday and we'll discuss our plan then

I can't say it enough, I'm soooo glad we changed FS! He is awesome

    Default Magnificent Mid-30's! #2

    Thanks @bel2466 and @Shrillian xxxx

I think I'm ok about it now Shrill. A year ago, and with the other FS, I wasn't but now I almost feel kind of excited about it. Seems weird to be excited about it, but now I feel like something's really happening and maybe we'll have some luck!

    @HillDweller - of course you're excited!!

The way I saw IVF was this:

I am guaranteed to have a chance of being pregnant after each transfer.

Sure, cycles may not work, not enough eggs make it to five days, etc etc.

But after each transfer, my pregnancy chance is guaranteed, rather than the "what ifs" of:

"Have I caught the egg in time?"
    "Have I ovulated?"
"Have the cells combined and found their way?"

Yes, there's greater sadness for a failed cycle, but the odds are higher than natural or induction ones, so a win in my book in that way.

Could just be my stupid optimism, though. 😉

That's exactly how I see it too @Shrillian

DH's last SA was better than before but still only borderline ok so between his results and my PCOS, Hashimoto's and iron disorder something is just not coming together right. At least with IVF we'll know if we can get my eggs fertilized and developing! My thyroid is right where it needs to be and I'm taking Metformin for PCOS so hopefully with the guaranteed chance of getting pregnant something might click!

Although we've been trying for almost 2 years now I'm glad I was able to get my thyroid Eric under control during that time and not find out about my issues while I was pregnant at least!

I'm not sure yet, we've got the follow up appt from the lap etc with the FS next Tuesday so we'll find out from there

I'm taking Metformin and Thyroxine now. I only needed a really low dose of Thyroxine to pull my thyroid into line, so that was good. The old FS had me on the maximum dose of Metformin and the new FS looked a bit shocked when I told him (I'm pretty small and don't weigh much at all so it's a really high dose for me) I'm going to ask him what he recommends when I see him next and whether he thinks I should drop the dose a bit. I actually don't think Metformin has done a whole heap for my cycle anyway...it might have shortened it slightly, but I think my thyroid coming good has helped more. Although I'm O'ing around day 21, it's starting to be more if a constant day 21-23 rather than all over the place

@HillDweller - popping in to give you BIG HUGS. Keep your chin up, lovely lady. I know it's darn tough, but you've got such a great spirit about you, that I wish your TTC journey comes to fruition very soon. xx

@Shrillian Thankyou You're always good at putting a smile on my face! I think I'm such a logical person that I find the fact that TTC is so illogical the hardest to cope with. I like tangible results in life - do ABC and XYZ will happen. Not so much with this stuff eh? You can do everything "right" and still get zero results! But I will keep my chin up and keep powering along thank you xxx
