Congratulations to all the new mamas and wishing safe deliveries for all those still in waiting. A quick update for me after a trouble free pregnancy I opted for a c-section and on 22nd September delivered a healthy baby girl - Isabella. The whole experience was a really positive one and the c- section went very smoothly, the first moment my OB held up my baby girl it was love at first sight - she was beautiful with big chubby cheeks and crying loudly - the most amazing sound in the world, this little being that I had created and that I had first seen as 32 cell blastocyst.

The Ob later told me that because bubs was head down but posterior i would have likely needed a c- section anyway. the stitching up went well and they put her to my chest in recovery and she latched on straight away not even stirring when they rolled me over to check for bleeding. For those having their first c-section a couple of points - the fear of the spinal in my back was worse then the actual injection, and after effect of the spinal may be intense shivering - don't worry about it and enjoy the warm blankets.

Back in the ward and my DH stayed with baby while they weighed her - 3.56 kg and measured her 50.5 cm. my other advice is to stick with the pain meds, move around as soon as you can, take Metamucil to avoid the blocking effects of the pain meds and to avoid straining.

baby was sleeping and eating well but it was causing me discomfort - the midwives and Paed checked myself and baby but found nothing wrong - the lactation consultant was the one who identified the posterior tongue tie and upper lip tie! So next advice is - if breast feeding is hurting check all the issues - proper attachment and babys latch!

now two weeks later I am still in awe of this little baby and I love her more every day. Wishing all the best for those still in waiting and good feeding and sleeping for those with newborns.

Congratulations Liveandlearn! You are balancing out the girls side! I love all the baby news!!

I'll second that you need to take your metamucil (or movicol I had) I had an episiotomy and needed it! Also got ultrasound from the physios highly recommend it for quicker healing.

I came in to the hospital yesterday at 2.30pm for an assessment as I was having less fetal movements and cramping. I was on the ctg for 45mins and they said everything was fine, go home, relax. So I tried.. I couldn't sit down in one spot for long, cramps were soo bad. It got to 12am and I called delivery suite to see if they could help. They said to try heat packs and hot showers to ease the pain. I ended up sitting on the couch trying to get sleep, by this stage id had none.
At 2.20am I went to the bathroom and my waters broke. Called the delivery suite and came straight in. Mw assessed me and I was 4cms, had epidural put in. Assessed again at 4am and I was 8cms. Dr came in around 9am and Cooper was born at 9.52am!!

We're so excited and in love with him!Attachment 61709
