Default Cervical cerclage for incompetent cervix & working

    Hi all,

I am interested in hearing from women who have had the cervical cerclage and if you have still been able to work. I have read about a lot of women who require bed rest which has made me a little worried, as I don't know how I would handle not being able to get around for so long!

I have had two LLETZ operations on my cervix (CIN3 & CIN2), so my gynaecologist has advised I will need the stitch done at approximately 12 weeks. Unfortunately we have not had much luck trying to conceive as a result of miscarriages, however we continuing to try and want to gather as much information as possible

I had a cerclage placed at 12 weeks due to suspected incompetent cervix. I have a history of recurrent miscarriage, with multiple curettes, as well as a uterine abnormality. I took a week off work after the procedure, but the doctor was happy for me to continue working my desk job afterwards.

However, at 19 weeks, I started having contractions and my doctor advised that I stop working immediately. I'm now on "modified" bed rest. I expected to be able to work much longer, but am willing to do whatever it takes to keep this baby safe.

Thank you for your response Hamster Honey. I hope all goes well with your pregnancy and you're not stuck in bed too much!
