Nah, I clean my floor heaps more now that I have kids! They're in and out, they have friends over, stuff gets spilled. I would sweep the high traffic areas of my house two to three times a day, and then mop at the end of the day...all up I reckon I spend 15-20 minutes max. maintaining my floors, broken up in to 5-10 minute lots. I don't find it hard to have clean floors, which is why I don't care if shoes are on in the house

However, I let my OCD tendencies slide...otherwise there's no time for me, and there's no time for DH and me either. My house is clean, but it's lived in. My floors just need to be cleaned all the time because with three children and three furbabies going in an out all day they get dirty quickly.

Yep, there's always time to vacuum... but I just can't be stuffed!
I don't want to waste my life doing excessive housework...

Each to their own! It's all personal preference. I certainly do not spend all my spare time cleaning, in our place there wouldn't be enough to clean constantly as it's small! I'm sorry that you think my opinion is ridiculous but I find it therapeutic to start my weekend knowing everything's done, my point was it takes five minutes to vacuum or steam mop. The last thing I want to do it cleaning after work but I love feeling comfortable more than I miss that 5 mins it took to tidy.

I already gave my opinion on the OPs question and this is off topic. Thank you for the discussion though.

I agree it's each to their own but I think some are getting their back ups at the insinuation that they have filthy germ ridden houses because people wear shoes in them. I have 4 kids, 2 dogs, countless play dates and I work. And my house is clean. But I do allow shoes in the house.

If I accused everyone who has a shoes off policy of being an anal retentive kill joy I'd expect to be shouted down.

I don't think anyone insinuated that. Everyone just gave their opinions based on personal preference, which is was the OP asked for.

I am posting on BH now but wouldn't be able to vacuum because I have a baby sleeping in my arms and a toddler asleep in the other room. Just an example
