    Default Replacing laptop screen

Has anyone had to do this? DS just knocked my laptop off the desk and the screen is cracked all over. It's touchscreen as well so I am guessing that costs more? Any ideas of cost? Will it just be more cost effective to buy a new laptop?

We found it more cost effective to upgrade but our laptop was already a few years old by that stage and the price for a better, faster one was quite cheap considering.. No idea how much a replacement would be though. We just went straight for the upgrade.

Damn! I was thinking I'm probably going to have to replace it *sigh*. It's only a year old, which is old in terms of a computer, but still, I was hoping to get a few years out of it at least.

I *think* I remember someone saying a friend of theirs paid about $250 at the time. But since ours was about 4 or 5 years old and slowly wearing out we didn't see the value in fixing it when we could pay $700 for a cheap one that was better than the one we had.

Oh wow $250 isn't too bad. That gives me some hope. I've just sent off for a quote online so fingers crossed it's around that much or less.
Had to happen whilst I'm right in the middle of 3 different assignments, didn't it?

We were able to connect our TV to our laptop to use that as a temporary screen to get important stuff off it while trying to decide what to do. I can't remember what cable we used to do it with though.

That's a great idea! I would never of thought of that. I think a HDMI cable would probably work?

It was something like that or an optical cable. I can't remember. It was a couple years ago now. Worth a try though.

I think we paid about $100 a couple of years ago, but it wasn't a touch screen.

Do you remember where you got it done? Maybe it's still cheap?
