But if you go in at 8 weeks and find out the baby died at 6 weeks you have to live with the fact that you unknowingly carried around a dead baby for two weeks. I did that for five days and I feel ill just thinking about it. Depends on the type of person you are and what you can emotionally deal with I think!

    Oh Hun xx
I was in your position but I carried for an extra 5 weeks. It's absolutely heart breaking.

OP won't have to worry about this as I'm sure she will have a happy and successful pregnancy!
I'd also say 8 weeks as a heartbeat should have been established by then, best of luck.

I went at 6 weeks 2 days and there was a heartbeat 97bpm - the sonographers report said that was slow. l had to go back for a second scan two weeks later and heartbeat was 148. Hub and I could see so much more too - it's amazing how much growing happened in 2 weeks. It's personal choice I think, but I wish I went at 7- 8 weeks - that two weeks of waiting to see if everything was okay was very stressful.

If you know how far along you are then you .... Ahh..don't need a dating scan... I can understand how you want to use it for having a squiz at bub though.

Well doctor roughly estimated how far a long I am based on the last menstrual cycle , and I've had 3 miscarriages in the last 2 years . So it is a huge deal for me, to know what's happening inside.. It's as if I'm scared it would happen again even though they said it's fine .

I want to find out the actual due date before I can actually call the hospital ? My Gp instructed me to do so , so just asking how far in should I do it .

But since you all recommend 7-8 weeks , it wouldn't hurt to wait . Not so sure how far I am though , just basing it on the blood test results I received .

You can give the hospital your due date the GP gives you from your lmp. This is the norm, dating scans are only used if there are other concerns (eg irregular periods, last period unknown).

7-8 weeks good call you should be able to see the little peanuts heart beat then. Best of luck there's nothing like seeing your bub on a scan for the first time!

Given your miscarriage history you might want to request more than 1 scan. Medicare will rebate for multiple first trimester scans all with the same code for dating and/or viability (I hate that term!).

After two miscarriages, one missed picked up at 8.5w (growth stopped at 7.5) and confirmed at 9.5, I was having as many scans as I needed with DS. I somehow held out until 7.5w for the first one, then another at 9.5w in my OB's office at the initial appointment, I don't get the 12w scan so was feeling nervous but started feeling movement at around 13w (yes, amazing!) and Doppler confirmed heartbeat again at 14w appointment.

Sending sticky vibes for this one!
