I'm *trying* to parent using both! I'm a new mummy and so far have been parenting more by head than heart (no more googling for me!) but I feel like I am slowly achieving a better balance the more I get to know my baby girl.

Both. Some situations are more by the head, and some situations are more by the heart.

Head mainly with enough heart that I don't come across as a drill sergeant.

"And I gave that guy directions. Even though I didn't know the way. Because that's just the kind of guy I am this week. "
