Default Experiences at the RPA birth centre or The midwifery group practice at the Royal?

    Hi all,
Im trying to work out which birth centre is the best to go with and would love to hear any experiences you've had especially with the midwifery group practice at the Royal as I live a lot closer to that (but work near RPA!) Also other threads have talked about going public but then using private health insurance for a private room post birth-can you do that at the Royal?

    Many thanks in advance x

I had all my antenatal care through the RPA birth centre and thought they were wonderful. I was devastated I didn't get to birth there in the end but will definitely go back for my next pregnancy.

I've just been through the RPA birth centre and it was wonderful. I genuinely couldn't fault the care or the facilities.

I went home the same day as giving birth so I'm not sure about the ins and outs of using your private insurance for a private room in the hospital afterwards, but I know it is possible to do. The birth centre midwives can refer you to the right person at the hospital to talk to about it once you have booked in.

Thanks for the RPA experiences so far-sadly when I called up to book in I was told I can't as I' outside their catchment area :/ So I'm booked into the Royal birth centre. Wold love to hear from any of you that birthed at the Royal birth centre and in particular what you did, as in go home straight after giving birth or get a private room? Thanks in advance X
