    Default Antibiotics while pregnant?

    I've tried to deal with a cold/flu for the past week and it's come on one day, gone the next but for the last three days it's all on my chest now and I'm coughing up really bad.

    Can't avoid an antibiotic at this point.
    Are they safe though, I'm 19 weeks.
    I've never been sick during a pregnancy, never sick in general.
    It's taking it's toil on me.

    Anyone have a really bad chest infection while pregnant.
    I'm coughing so hard I feel like I might get sick.

    I haven't had a chest infection while pregnant but I did have to take antibiotics at one point in my second trimester. There are certainly safe antibiotics available.

    I had to take antibiotics with this bub at about 21 weeks due to an infected wasp sting. There are safe anti-biotics available

    Feel better soon! Being sick sucks, especially when pregnant

    Yes I did! In the middle of winter I had a shocking chest infection while I was about 25-28 weeks.

    I had two courses of antibiotics. Just standard penicillin I think. The doctor and pharmacist both assured me that penicillin is totally safe while pregnant.

    Definitely see your doc otherwise it will hang around for longer - like it did to me as I kept putting it off

    Yes I had a terrible chest infection after I caught a virus and needed 2 rounds. I was assured by everyone the ones prescribed were completely safe during pregnancy.

    There are antibiotics that are safe while pregnant. Your doctor should be able to prescribe you the right ones. I had them in both pregnancies as I got a chest infection.

    Just make sure you take probiotics as well. Pregnancy makes you prone to thrush as it is. You don't want to have to deal with the as well.

    That's kind of why I wanted to avoid them too darla87.
    Apparently I have asymptomatic candida?
    Yeah, so I was two days on the treatment when I got this dose.

    If I have to get an antibiotic I will go get a swab again for the thrush and restart the treatment.
    Not having any symptoms of it whatsoever though and apparently there's a link between having it present and preterm birth.
    The only reason I know I have it is because the RNS are doing a study at the minute, which I pulled out of.

    I can't get an appointment until tomorrow BUT I've been meaning to change my doc for a long, long time so it's with a new one
    Sucking down hot manuka honey and apple cider vinegar for now, oh woe is me
