Question Doctor Barak Melbourne IVF - Feedback please

    Hello All

DH and I are "potentially" going to be doing ICSI IVF with Dr Barak through Melbourne IVF and I wondered if any of you lovely people have had any experience with him? Also any experience with Melbourne IVF themselves??

Any and all knowledge valued - not set in stone to go through him. MIVF have suggested we see him due to our specific issues (DH count and motility very low) but I also have miscarrying issues so open to recommendations.

Thanks in advance for your time

He's not my Dr, but did do my last embryo transfer as my Dr was not available on the day.
It was without drama, his bedside manner was fine as he had to tell the bad news about my only having one embryo remaining on the day. I had a faint positive on hpt but unfortunately it ended in a chemical pregnancy.

In general mivf have been great. I go to both Waverley (to pick up meds and have blood tests) and East Melbourne (to see Dr, scans and egg collections/transfer) clinics. Waverley I am treated so much more like I'm the only patient when I'm there (but I tend to go there later in the morning). I prefer the city though as I can walk in to see nurses for a blood test at whatever time of the morning.

I have no experience with your Dr but I switched from MIVF to Monash, they have a better success rate and prefer to grow embies to day 5 which is better for MFI issues. My Dr from MIVF has retired now which is good because he was awful. No harm in getting a second opinion from Monash. I can recommend FS there if you want. Also it is good to have a clinic close to home. I found it stressful trying to get to East Melbourne for early morning appts with traffic and parking etc. I go to Monash Clayton, which is only 15 mins from home so much less stressful!

Good luck with your ttc journey.

Thankyou @babyinjune and @akakura for the insight

I think we will keep the initial consult with him and see what he has to say and maybe look into getting in to see Monash after that - a second opinion cant hurt

Dr barak is my FS as our GP referred him to us. My DH has male infertility issues & barak is amoung the few who specialises in treatment.
I just did my first egg collection today & had 14 eggs mature. So in that sense he was great with the recommended dosage. My egg collection was also not painful at all & dr barak did it.

On the down side, he doesn't always know each persons case when you see him & I sometimes have to remind him of stuff. He is also a little socially awkward

If we have any success in the next week, I will let you know.

Oh @Femmefatal so sorry to hear that we saw Dr Rob Mclachlan at Monash for DH's mfi issues and he was able to diagnose correctly our rare Mfi issue that mivf did not.
