    Default How old for Barbie

So... dd is almost 2.5 and she is obsessed with Barbie, it stared when watching peppa on the iPad and a link to Barbie in the Dreamhouse came up.

We bought her the car with the barbie (even though we thought it was way to old for her) and she plays with it all the time! Recently she has been telling me she wants a barbie and ken house! Earlier in the week she was with my mum and she she asked her "you buy me barbie"!!! Of course my mum did, along with a ken! She loves these dolls!
She has no understanding of the supposed relationship of Barbie & Ken, I know that.

I've been looking at the Dreamhouse for Xmas, and I'm wondering if she's just too young.

I think she would loose her mind on Xmas morning if there was a barbie house!!!

How old were your kiddies when you went with barbie?

If she wants it then I really don't think she's too young. Perfect time for dressing Barbie, brushing her hair and playing home.

    Sounds like a wonderful gift.

Phew! Feeling ok about this now! I was really thinking she's way too young, but she is very adamant that she wants barbie, no negotiation. I'm gonna go with it. Thanks girls

Just popped into this thread thinking it might have been about tasty flame grilled treats!

Good luck with your dolly shopping though!

Dd got her first barbie at 2, from a friend of my sisters, who just decided to buy her one because she believes all little girls need barbies. She didn't ask, just got it. Too bad so sad if I had a problem with it! Dd doesnt play much with it yet. I'm not a barbie person. I didn't have a barbie til I was 8, and I was kind of over it by then anyway. Idk, it's just a doll at this age, but yeah with all the glitz and merchandise that surrounds it, where does it end??? Your dd found something she loves playing with and has captured her imagination . So that's a pretty good thing.

Well she's already into them, so I say go for the dream house!

I can't remember how old I was when I first got into Barbie, but they were my favourite thing to play with as a child. I still played with them up until I was 12 years old - I didn't want to grow up, and I felt really bummed when I felt I had to stop playing with them!

my almost 3 year old gets really excited when she sees anything Barbie related. She doesn't own any, but I bet she would love if someone did buy some for her!

my Dad bought my DD a barbie doll before she was born

DD was probably about 4 when she started playing with Barbie's ... but at 2 she loved all kinds of figurines, so at christmans (2.5) we bought her a barbie house to play with those in ... and graduated to barbie later.

    She loved it.

If your daughter loves it - go for it.

My grand daughter was given Barbie at 4 years and she is 6 years now. Still obsessed with Barbie. She was given the car last birthday and now likes to have the dream house. I do not think your baby is too young though.
