    Default Tell us a story...

Of something that has happened to you lately that lifted you up, gave you a smile when you most needed it, etc.

Was at the grocery store this morning wiht DS2 and DS3 and an elderly man was buying his groceries and asking the lady to please stop when it gets to $120 because that's all he has for the month. DS3 was giggling at something and the man turned to me and told me what beautiful happy children I have and that they are lucky to have such a happy engaged mother. I ended up buying a $50 gift card for the grocery store and running out of the shop afterwards to give it to him because what he gave me with those kind words was worth so much and I wanted to give a little kindness back <3 I hope that man knows how much his words meant to me especially given the hard time we've been having lately.

Come on, share a story of something lovely to help us remind everyone that there is in fact a lot of good in the world still!

I recently ended up stuck at Melbourne airport for 5 hours with my baby girl. I'd only been expecting to be at the airport 20 minutes as I was just changing flights so I had checked my baby carrier in my luggage. I queued up to speak to airline staff to see if my carrier might be able to be found or if I could borrow a stroller. After over an hour waiting in line, holding Dd, my arms were killing me and I was just exhausted. A lovely woman came up and asked if she could hold dd for me to give me a break. It was so sweet of her to offer and even though it was only 5 minutes it made a world of difference to me.

I got brave and took my 3 kids out for the day on Tuesday, one of the first times I've done it (youngest is only 2 weeks old). As expected I got a bit frazzled and when I was getting everyone back in the car I wasn't paying attention and my door opened onto another car. When I turned around to see if I damaged the other car the elderly owner was sitting in it and he very kindly told me not to worry. I don't actually think any damage was done but it was so lovely that he let me off when so many other people would have yelled and screamed.

Oh wow 5 hours! What a nice lady though giving you a hand, 5 minutes is still a blessing when you're holding a heavy baby! x

Aww what a kind man. Im very glad no one yelled or screamed at you and I promise you, going out with 3 does get easier! Mine are 6, 4 and 1 now and I go out with them for the day on my own often. I look back and cant believe how daunting it felt at first. Congratulations on your newbie!

So, some of you know my boring story but basically, for the last three months I've been living in the city, three hours away from my home, DH and two school aged kids because of illness. I dialyse three times a week and my usual time is 2.30-7pm on Mon, Wed and Friday. I sometimes try to get a morning spot on a Friday so that I can drive home to spend a long weekend with my family and today I found out that two lovely patients had volunteered to swap their morning spots with me on any Friday that I want to go home.

I saw one of them today and told him how grateful I was for his lovely gesture and he said that whenever I talked about home and my kids and husband that my face lit up light a bloody Christmas Tree (his words lol) so it was the least he could do.

    So humbling and lovely

Ds1 has been asking for cuddles and kisses. It makes a change from him saying "doh away mummy" all the time

Ive had a rough week so today when I did dropoff to my kids stepmum and she was nice to me. Oohing and aahing over my new baby, held an umbrella up over our heads and dealt with my older kids really lifted my spirits.

We have had our moments but I really appreciated her today.

Near my work there's a homeless woman who sells loom band bracelets on the street. DS always wants one and I usually get him one and give the lady $10-20 depending on what I can afford. The other day we were at the nearby tram stop and he saw her and said to me 'mama I want to call out but I don't know her name' so we went over to ask her name and ended up having a big old chat. I love, LOVE that he is learning that homeless people aren't scary or any different to us. I love living in a neighbourhood where people come from all walks of life, are every colour under the sun and where people believe a myriad of different things and speak scores of different languages. I think it will make my children better people in the long run.
