    Wouldn't charge them for my time but maybe ask them to pay for any "materials" needed if I didn't have money or depending on how much they were

    Honestly that's more than I think it's worth. I even tried telling her whatever she thinks and she said no you tell me how much you want, I want to pay you because it would have cost me heaps more to put it in the shop.

    Frustrating. Maybe a bottle of wine? If she is insisting so badly?

    If she's insisting then I would accept it. Some people don't like feeling like they owe anyone.

    Perhaps ask for a gift voucher or wine so it feels like a thank you gift as opposed to a cash transaction.

    I would opt for her to shout you lunch or dinner somewhere together. Monetary wise would be less that what she's prob offering and you get to hang out together

    @DesperatelySeekingSleep

    1. Go to the damn dinner. She probably wants to see you as well.

    2. Order the lobster and a fifty year-old scotch.

    3. You will never have this dilemma again :-)

    This. I have a friend who is a cake decorated it's so sad the amount of 'friends' she has asking for free/cheap cake.
