I think this is extremely rude and have seen it happen to a few friends recently. They were first babies too, I was so devastated for them.

This would be a whole other thread but my mil saw my ds before me while I was still in recovery (I had an emergency cs under ga) she took photos and sent them with a text message announcement to all of her family. So we didn't get the opportunity to announce our news ourselves to dhs family

We had an early hours c-section so we just sent out pic msgs & snapchats the next day and posted a pic about 5days later.

We didn't announce the pregnancy on fb so it wasn't much of a deal before she was born.

I did ask everyone not to post anything at all until I said so because I wanted to make sure that everyone knew first hand before telling fb. We had some family travelling with no internet access around the time so didn't want them to not hear it from us.

I would have been so annoyed and upset if someone did. It's our news to share not my Mums or aunts or neighbours. That's why we didn't even announce anything on fb before she was here. No Facebook official or anything like that LOL

I thought I would be really upset if someone did it to me but I learned that it is more the motive that is upsetting - if it's done to show off or to intentionally take the moment for themselves then it's so wrong. But in my case my wonderful brother in law posted our little ones photo on Instagram out of sheer excitement and it made me so so happy
We then had to quickly announce it ourselves
