    Default Croup? Advice please

18mo DS has had a cold/green snot for the past week. It cleared up on Sunday to clear then on Monday seemed normal again. Tues he started coughing like a seal barking.
Last night I found him asleep with a roaring temp and covered in vomit...assuming he'd done it during a cough. He woke at 3am with a 40 temp (always throws high temps) and miserable. Also sounds quite wheezy when breathing in.
I dropped DD off this morn and another mum said "ohhh the croup bark, I don't miss that - get him straight to drs".

I can't get in till Fri so just wondering
    -does it sound like croup?
    - if so how is it treated? Is it ok to wait till Friday?

    TIA

If it's croup it can get bad and you shouldn't wait until Friday to get it checked. Is he still coughing? Croup is usually worse at night time. If it gets worse it might be worth it considering going to the ER

If it's croup try sitting in bathroom and have the shower in hot the steam helps or a vaporizer is good but if his weezing and isn't well with cold like symptoms and high temps do u think mayb he could have phnamonia
Watch his chest if it puckers in it could then be that too my son has asthma and had phnamonia now gets croup which I
Get a steroid medication called pregnasone or ready prep
It helps really really well def get him check quick left alone can just worsen his case. Good luck hope he feels better and u get answers if ur really concerned go to hospital.

If he's got noise when breathing in I'd be either getting into another gp or going to your local ed. Also keep an eye out for sucking in at the bottom of the neck or between/under the ribs when breathing in.

Keep an eye on him and err on the side of caution with the ed. I wouldn't wait till Friday, at least find another gp/after hours gp clinic

We have had croup 4 times this winter. It just awful.
If it really is croup I would see another doctor, you cant wait until Friday.
We use steroids, sleeping sitting up with DD on our chest and cold air.
Vaporisers and steam aren't recommended anymore.

Last time ds has something like that the dr prescribed something called predmix, you give it three nights in a row. I think it works as an anti inflammatory. It was a life saver.

Dd2 has been coughing and wheezing and it's bronchiolitis. I would find somewhere to get in sooner and if he's sucking in at the ribs or bottom of the neck, as pp's have said, take him to ED.

Thanks all. I've called 3 Drs surgeries and full today. I'll go to a walkin place in the morn if he doesn't get any worse overnight. DH flies in late tonight so if we need to go to ED he can stay him with DD. Thanks
