    Default Rant,.I am so annoyed

I have to see a Haematologist due to ongoing issues turning up in my blood work... 3 weeks ago i rang the specialist my Gp referred me to and was told they would ring me back with an appt. Ok , thats fine..

meanwhile in that 3 weeks, ive had surgery and have been recuperating so today I thought id ring them and see why i havent been allocated an appt...

Apparently the Dr has to decide whether he will take me on as a new patient... WTF?? I need to see a specialist.. I am in a regional area and dont have the option of many specialists. I asked when will i know if he will take me on and the lady said, well he has to decide and it could be in a week or 2...then i have to wait for an appt and we all know specialists are well known for waiting lists.

I am so annoyed ( not the word i want to use ) and angry.. i need to see someone and get this sorted.

so now it looks like i need to drive at least 90 mins away to see someone when there is a perfectly good specialist i can see 30 mins away...

    Its so damn annoying...

anyway thats my vent for the day lol

Seeing specialists is a royal pain in the $"@))!!! Too bad if you're really sick, I always think! I have had similar frustrations and just think unfortunately you need to be the squeaky wheel and just keep following them up - politely and calmly of course! Hope you get an appt soon.

That sucks, especially the fact that they've been sitting on the referral for 3 weeks and still can't tell you if they can take you on as a patient!

I think it's rude they didn't explain the process when you first called up.

    I would be annoyed too

    Thanks for the replies...

Its not life threatening but my GP is concerned that my blood work keeps showing elevated numbers and they are rising with each blood test so she wants me to get it checked out .... I just hate how some ppl think they can play pick and choose- My GP faxed a copy of the referral and blood results to the specialist yet he cant be bothered to look at them... If this is how he treats potential patients, how does he treat those he sees? makes me wonder. anyway im off to google and see what i can come up with, just hoping i dont have to go to Brisbane which is 2.5 hours away

    thanks for the comments

That sucks , Op are you able to get your GP to put some pressure on the Specialist and make it a priority that the Specialist gives you a yay or nay either way?

The Gp can explain to the Specialist that if you don't see him/her, you may be required to look up to 90 minutes away for an alternate Specialist and as a courtesy you need to know sooner rather than later.

Hope it gets sorted soon for you.

that sux. I would ring them up and explain that it's urgent and I would like to know as otherwise I would have to travel FAR away for another appt.
