For size reference my mavhine next to dh's nespresso.
All my coffee grings go on the garden so no wastage there.

We have a DeLonghi Perfecta. It grinds the beans, does different sized coffees, and also froths milk so you can make different kinds of coffees (flat white, caffe latte, cappuccino) In fact, we sometimes just make hot milk drinks for DS without the shot of coffee (all automatic, no stuffing about frothing milk ourselves). It's really just the press of a button so no extra steps compared to a pod machine.

We've had it for a couple of years and make at least 2 coffees a day. It cost around $900 from a discount online place. A few months ago one of the rubber seals on the water tank broke and it was replaced plus the machine was serviced all under warranty, so it's been a great investment.

I have 4 children - I create waste. I know that I am certainly not perfect, but to me if you can achieve the same outcome (probably a better one) without the waste I can't understand why you (as in the general "you") would.
I didn't know that it wasn't certain they weren't recycled. I take mine back to store as I don't have a garden to put the grounds on.
