Yeah for pre and post transfer here in Sydney they charged $150. It's just an additional cost over all out other ivf and donor costs.

Yeah I just don't have much 'give' in my finances at the moment, for extras. The human growth hormone is an additional 1k as well.

Hi - hope you are all travelling well! I'm been struggling a bit in the last week so keeping my head down. Not sure if it's IVF fatigue or Synarel so thought I'd check with the collective experience. My first time on Synarel I can't say I had any reaction to it. But I've been on it for a week and experiencing tiredness, depression and (TMI alert) spotting. I only have two more days before I switch to the antagonist injection and start estrogen priming so it is almost over but was wondering if this all sounds normal?

@Jem70 - I think those symptoms are all possible on synarel although I didn't experience that myself. I just had tiredness. I mean these drugs mess with our hormones so it's probably not surprising. How severe is it in terms of the blues? The spotting sounds a little unusual. Can you ring the nurses and see what they say? How many days have you been on it - with all of the drugs I found my tolerance improved in time and I felt much better once I got used to them.

Thanks @Kelly70 yes I must admit this was a surprise - the symptoms are all listed as normal but having had no reaction at all last time I was thrown. I was tempted to go and see the counsellor then I remembered how terrible she was in my mandatory sessions! I suspect there is some IVF fatigue as well, and my very small IRL support group is quite AWOL. It's a tough road for all of us, but being single makes even the little stuff like who will pick you up from EPU a trial.

Ah yes - it was one of the worst feelings last cycle when my EPU fell on one of my mum's only 2 work days for the week and I felt I had no other options, apart from roping in my reluctant dad. He turned out to be fab in the end (and actually volunteered of his own accord to pick me up with this next cycle if I need him - so I feel very blessed that he's finally got my back). But it's quite a lonely road on your own, even just not being able to get a cuddle when things go wrong.

Have you thought about getting a few counselling sessions outside of MIVF - just as additional support. Go to your GP and ask for the medicare funded mental health plan. The sessions are heavily rebated - I have had loads of additional counselling on this path and she had helped keep me sane. With the medicare gap kicking in with all the cycles, I pay $15 of her $160 fee, it practically pays for itself.

Also Jem, we are both Melbourne girls - if you IRL support is a bit thin on the ground, I'd love to be there as well if you wanted to catch up for a coffee from time to time (we could support each other). I'll PM you my details.

I feel so blessed to have found this thread. It is the most amazing group of supportive, strong and inspiring women.
@Jem70 one thing I know about syneral is that there are no normal symptoms and each cycle seems to be different. I swing from high to low constantly.

As for acupuncture @Kelly70 I have had cycles were I have done herbs and weekly acupuncture and pre and post transfer and still bfn this cycle I did a session post EPU and I will do pre and post transfer but that will be it. I just can't justify another expense at the moment. I will also see my chiropractor on Tuesday, I usually go fortnightly but he said he will do as many free sessions around transfer as I want so figure I will do an extra, can't hurt!

Oh and as for feeling alone. I was really stuck on Friday, mum and dad are away, my one friend who knows couldn't leave work to get me so I ended up catching a taxi home, not my finest moment.
