Good grief. Eldest punished for trusting her brother, youngest punished for nothing at all? Nope. Not fair. The child who did should be punished. If he was mine he'd no longer have an iPad. The eldest wouldn't have the burden of the password anymore. The youngest could carry on as normal.

Only the child who lied should be punished.

Sorry I forgot the happy ending. iTunes were contacted and refunded the money 'just this time'. Ok, so it's not just me, then. It did seem horribly unfair.

I'd seriously bawl my eyes out and do everything in my power to get Apple to refund! I have heard of them refunding in similar cases but have never heard of a child spending quite THAT much! Oh my gosh, I'd have a heart attack I'm sure.

As for the punishment, it's totally unfair to punish the other 2. I would be livid at the lying and sneaky behaviour of my DS and to be totally honest, I think his iPad would be going in the bin. Or I would sell it and use the $ to go towards repaying the cost. Plus he would be doing chores until he's 40 (well not quite but y'know..) to help pay it back. And he would be grounded from everything until further notice. At least a month though - all screens/gadgets, play dates, non team activities, parties etc.

I think a month ban from the iPad is a very lenient punishment for such deceit and for that amount of money. But then I'm tough..

I totally agree with others that it is not the fault of the older sister and definitely nothing to do with little brother.

I wouldn't punish the girl because she shouldn't have been in a position to parent. The boy gets off lightly with one month banning IMO . The youngest would have been fine.

    $4,600!!!!!

That is insane!! I don't even know how an app can cost that much!

Very foolish parents for for giving free reign to the child, giving them the password, they were asking for trouble!

The only punishment Dd deserves is for the passowrd to be changed ad not given to her! And reminding her she should have come and checked with her parents first. And since DS2 wasn't involved at all I would leave him out if it! I'd definitely be taking DS1's ipad away!!!! It's unfair that they all recieve the same punishment!

It's an unfair punishment...there's no way the other two children should be punished.

DD wouldn't have the password to begin with.
DS1 would be the only one punished.
