One of the main AVN people is a nurse with QLD health - she makes a big deal of pointing out they they can't be forced as there are CO for medical staff as well. There was also a doctor on their Facebook page once defending their right to choose. Terrible!

I'd put money on the hospital rejecting your application for "other reasons" if they found out you were a CO. Definitely not good for the hospital's public image if they knowlingly employed someone potentially infectious with a VPD wandering around the wards!!

I cannot speak for the Nursing profession, obviously.

I know right. I don't know what is scarier - the fact that she is unvaxxed or the fact that she doesn't believe in science!!

    Yes, I agree sajimum.

It is an interesting discussion, and there are many good arguments made in this thread for compulsory vaccination, but it still doesn't sit right with me.

Like I said, I am a vaxxer, so I'm not anti vax.

Me neither - it's a pity we even have to contemplate it- in a perfect world, people would see the overwhelming medical evidence and the fact that almost all scientist and doctors agree - vaccines are safe and effective - and they would vaccinate themselves and their kids. Then we wouldn't even have to talk about bleeding vaccines!

It doesn't sit "right" with me, but not vaccinating and putting people are risk (willingly) sits even more "wrong" if that makes sense at all.

Yeah it's sort of similar to that old man on the plan that opened a bag of nuts despite everyone being told there was a kid with a severe nut allergy on board... And the little girl had a bad reaction and had to have an injection.

    Selfish...

That'd be more like sending your child with a VPD into a group of non vaccinated kids imo.
