Default When to install car seat?

And how long does it usually take?

We don't want to be caught out by not having the car seat put in early enough but I also heard that it shouldn't be in too early (something about if there is an accident? No idea!).

    I am almost 34 weeks.

    TIA

I'd get onto it now. If bub comes early you may be too busy in hospital (SCN if too early) to arrange it. If bub comes around 36-37 weeks that only gives you 2-3 wks to get it done. If you're planning on having it installed by an installer, some have waiting lists.

Eta-It only takes a few minutes to install.

Now! We installed ours at 36 weeks & bub arrived bang on 37 weeks. I would hate to think how DH would have managed doing it by himself in a sleep deprived state after the birth!

Also it's not that hard - just confusing the first time. First time took us about half an jour, but we moved it to my mums car the other day & it took 5 min now we know what we're doing!

Read the manual a couple of times first and have a play with the seat before trying to put it in the car. If you aren't sure you have it right you can always pop into a fitter to have it checked.

Thanks everyone. We have a voucher to have it fitted professionally, so I'll get DH to book it in and they can show him how to do it too. Better get onto it

I'd do it now, can take awhile to make sure it's in correctly.

I didn't even have a car seat when DS was born! He was 6 weeks prem and we'd only recently ordered his car seat when he was born! Trust me, you don't want to be in hospital wondering if you'll have a way to take bub home!
