Can you explain what PGD is, @ertgirl? Someone I knew mentioned it to me and I mentioned it to @[Mod] Allymumtobe but I don't know what it is other than "ICSI+".

It is I just checked. We will grow our embryos to 5 days which almost is the same sink or swim test instead of 2.5k of might kill a good embryo testing.

Also, can you transfer the same cycle as the embryos are removed?

Yes you get a fresh transfer on a stim cycle. And yes it costs more and given my last mmc had perfect DNA pgd wouldn't have help had she been an Ivf baby

Sorry, it's pre implantation genetic diagnosis. It means that if an embryo is compromised genetically & they know what they're looking for they can test an embryo for certain genetic disorders. My best friend had several rounds of IVF, kept getting pregnant & then miscarrying, despite having perfect looking 5 day blastocysts. Eventually they found out that she carries a rare disorder that affects male embryos. They had no choice but to do PGD in order to make it the 9 months. I'm not sure how it works at different clinics, but my friend had to do a freeze all cycle in order to do PGD.

I'm really sorry if I upset you Ally by suggesting it. It was heartbreaking watching my friend go through a total of 9 miscarriages. (3 during IVF) we feel that if her Drs at her first clinic had ordered more testing her & her DH may not have had to suffer for so long. Of course you're right, you should leave things up to the experts to get you pregnant. I feel bad for mentioning it.
