Thank you for your story. Aside from a few things you described exactly how I felt my entire teenage years. The only thing that stopped me attempting was I couldn't do that to my sister. That was the ONLY thing that stopped me. Your story and how you felt described how I felt as a teenager in such an uncanny way.

I honestly don't understand why people think it is ok to report a death by cancer, but not by suicide. Suicide is an illness, and until we start treating it as such there will always be the stigma attached.

Or why a car accident victim has their car wreck splashed all over the TV.

Yes, true - they do go too far the other way of course. Either we choose not to report, or we do report - but either way, leaving one group out and creating a silence almost shameful feeling about it doesn't help either I don't think. It's like when you tell people you have/do suffer mental illness - the looks on their faces!!

I read somewhere that around 20% of people suffer mental illness of some sort. Honestly I thought that rate would have been much much higher. Or maybe it's a study done with skewed answers because of that shame. Either way I think RW death has got people talking about it and making people realise it doesn't matter how much money someone has or how happy they appear mental illness can affect anyone.

Deleted. I re-read after posting and it's just too personal.
