When my brother had the first of the whooping cough vax he had a bad allergic reaction to it (ended up hospitalised). So the immunologist advised not to continue with the remaining doses. He did, however have all other vaccines when due, with no reactions.
However, when he was about 4 or 5 he actually caught whooping cough and ended up hospitalised as he had an allergic reaction to the virus as well as the illness from the virus, iykwim!
So allergies is a reason some don't vax.

But it isn't pro-formula vs anti-formula. They are support threads for bf and ff. It's a little different to pro and anti don't you think?

With respect, I don't know why people keep bringing up the formula threads as somehow a yardstick of kind and appropriate interactions. Formula feeders can't even have their own section without having bfers come in continuously, every positive thread becomes bashing about formula and about how bm is better. And when we complain we are told we just feel guilty and are over sensitive. The passive aggressiveness has it's own postcode lol

I know that's a bit OT, but it's been said a few times and I've thought huh? formula mums are the worst treated on this forum probably behind the scourged circ mums

I've got to say that when you go against the grain, be it non-vaxxing or formula feeding, or whatever, you need to have a thick skin and know your stuff, because you will get called on your choices, whether it is anyone else's business or not.

I FF from birth. I chose not to BF. I just didn't want to. But I didn't make an issue about it, and I certainly didn't go into the BFers threads EVER, because, well BFing just doesn't really interest me because I don't do it.

My point is that if you choose to non vax, be prepared to stand your ground, that's all. Don't go getting all upset when you are in the pro vaxxer thread and you read something you don't like, because, well, you aren't a pro vaxxer!

Makes total sense to me. Stay out of the threads you know might upset you!
