Default Would you have been upset?

So, long story short, DD stood on one of my sewing needles the other day and it went nearly all the way through her foot. She was admitted to hospital to get it removed and they asked me if her immunisations were up to date.

I said, she hasnt had any and they asked me how i felt about a tetnus shot. I said, if its needed im happy to give it.

They gave her one and i asked 'is that just a tetnus shot?', they said 'Yes, just tetnus'.

Once we got home i read over the discharge papers and they said 'tetnus, diptherier sp? immunisation give'. Then they said they sent the records to the gp and they will contact you for a immunisation plan.

Now, i think i should be upset about this...just because i gave permission to give a TETNUS shot, NOT a diptherier/tetnus shot!!

I mean, they lied to me!!

I can understand that you're upset but I don't think they lied, just didn't communicate with you properly. Tetanus vaccines are a combined vaccine as part of the vaccination schedule...it actually protects against 5 different diseases. Tetanus, diptheria, whooping cough, hep B and HIB. It sounds like they assumed that you knew it was a combined vax so when you said yes to just the 'tetanus' vax that they weren't going to give your DD any other injections.

I don't let any one inject anything into DS without researching/asking 1000 questions first so no I would not be upset as I would have known the facts

You can't get singular tetanus shots for kids ( or adults I think ?) so it sounds like they gave her a booster shot that would have been the TD ( tetanus/diphtheria) otherwise they would have had to give the one that contains pertussis, hep b , diphtheria , hib and tetanus so it was the better shot to give

I would be quite upset (and I am a pro-vaxxer). They should have provided accurate information to you about exactly what was being given.

OP do you have any concerns specifically about your daughter receiving a diphtheria injection? Aside from the issue of consent?

I had to get a tetanus shot last year and it too was a tetanus/diphtheria mix. I can only assume they are no longer 'just tetanus'. Would I have been upset? If I felt they had intentionally lied to me then yes but I doubt they would have. I'm with a pp who said that they would have read everything they could get their hands o before consenting to the shot. My main issue is knowing about potential side effects before they inject my child

Tetnus has had the other ones in it since I was a kid. I'm mid 30's. Not trying to be rude but surely as a anti vaxxer you knew that?

Clearly she didn't know that or she wouldn't be upset and wouldn't have asked the Drs the question 'is it just a tetanus shot'. I would be really angry OP, you asked specifically if it was just tetanus they should have told you it contained another vaccine as well.

You can not get a stand alone tetnus vax. The simplest form is DT (diptheria/tetnus)
