Default Ultrasound fine, hormones fine but no period... what now?

Okay so i still haven't had a proper period since about February. Went off the pill in October, had normal periods for a while then nothing but occasional spotting. The hormone tests are all fine and say I'm in the "follicular" stage, I'm not pregnant and the ultrasounds showed everything is normal. I'm heading back to the doctors this week but not sure what they're going to tell me to do now. Anyone know?? Any advice would be great! Apparently there is a follicle ready to release but nothing is happening? Apparently my uterus lining is fine too.

Thanks for the response. Sorry for the delay, I've been having computer problems. So I went to the doctors and there is nothing wrong at all according to them. No cysts, no thickening of the uterus, nothing. They said everything is in order but I seem to be 'stuck' in the process just before ovulation - I can't remember what it's called sorry. She said she could refer me to a specialist but thinks they will tell me the same thing and told me to go home and relax. I don't know what to do now. I thought they'd give me something to restart it, but nope. :| I feel bad because it's my fault things aren't working out...

Hi @Violet85 , I don't have the answer but just wanted to say you're not alone!

I had my first baby in 2009 and then didn't get a period back. Initial GP tests showed that I was in 'stuck' in the follicular stage of a cycle but for some reason didn't progress past that. Ultrasound showed everything normal but just nothing happening. Told to relax (as stress could cause that, but they actually mean war torn situation stress not where's my period stress) and come back in a few months..went back 6 months later, hormone profile still showing the same. We pushed for a FS appointment as we were pretty keen to get #2. After 2.5 years and numerous clomid/IVF cycles we got there. We were hoping after giving birth to our second that my period would return as normal. It hasn't so I've been seeing an endocrinologist (I would suggest you seeing one), he ran a few tests...and said my hormone profile showed me to be seriously underweight (I am not and he agrees) or exercising excessively. If I had walked in with either of these two issues the solution would be simply to put on weight and stop exercising but I don't have those problems so he was stumped but said it wasn't life threatening so just go on with life with it. I later had an MRI which showed that my pitituary gland is not 'firing' properly which is why my brain isn't telling my sex hormones what to do. No idea why this has happened but it does mean for future children I will need fertility assistance and then the long term solution is the pill until I reach menopause, but I think I'll seek a second opinion on that...

Sorry for the essay but I would totally be taking the referral to the specialist if you are wanting to get pregnant.

And yes I totally understand to need to be 'restarted', I mean if you've had a period before why can't they sort it out again..flick the switch ...if you ever find someone who can do that for you I'd love to hear about it. You're the first person I've 'met' who's also been stuck in the follicular stage of a cycle...
