Thanks SerenityLove I ended up calling my Mum and calling her on it and she totally tried to down play saying it was just a flippant comment as the strained relationship between my brother and I is so frustrating for her to deal with. That she didn't really mean it and they had talked since and weren't going to let me brother around- I told her I believe that she was just making that up now that she has been caught out. Either way I have cancelled her looking after him and we will be doing a family holiday instead.

Things just continually go up and down for us. She says she wants to start again with me have a clean slate and move forward... I just don't like the woman and don't trust her. I yearn for an uncomplicated relationship with my Mother but I just don't see it ever happening.

I know exactly what you mean, i am in the same boat with my mum and have very recently for the second time have decided to not bother with her anymore. I was also told we should start on a clean slate and try again, for the same nonsense to keep happening just in more conniving and cunning ways. Though my mum was the one this time to say let's call it quits after i said i need space from her for a bit. She's a control freak. And im sure she'll be in contact with me soon to demand her place in my life as she always has.

You mum sounds like she lies when confronted as well. Its so frustrating. I personally can't deal with it anymore with mine, its too hard. I am a much happier and confident person when she isn't in my life.

I give up on the dreams of a good relationship with mine. She is too much of a narcissist. It's never gonna work unless its all on her terms and i shut up and never stand up for myself.

Sorry you're in the same boat. Feel free to PM me if you ever need to chat/vent .

What did she say when you cancelled her looking after your son?
