Yes exactly. And why spend basically a whole season at that wedding for it to mean nothing in the end? I think the Barney/Robyn ending was worse than the Ted storyline.

This was the EXACT thought that inspired me to start this thread!

Yeah I wasn't a fan of the ending either! I really wanted to see it work out between Robyn and Barney, I thought it could have been an awesome ending for them. And the revelation that Ted's wife had passed away, well I was okay with that, but not with the ending that he went to Robyn.

The fact that his wife had passed away would have been totally fine and a viable ending, if he was just recounting the his life and story to their children and with them perhaps giving their 'blessing' for him to move on and find love again. But it didn't need to end with a **** story of him and Robyn getting back together because her and Barney split!

Agree it was the worst part.

Though - despite disliking 99% of the ending - I really liked the Lilly/Marshell ending

Lilly & Marshell are pregnant with their second, Marshell becomes a judge and is looking at going for a Supreme Court position.

It was just a nice positive storyline.

I agree with you all, I was so disappointed. I especially hated how they wasted so much of the last season with the wedding story and other stupid 'filler' storylines, I wish they would've introduced the mother earlier and we could've seen her and Ted together. Their whole relationship was just rushed through. And the ending made me so angry, there was no need for it, Robin and Ted had found closure.

I didn't hate it, the only bit I didn't like was Ted and Robyn ending up together.

Barney with his daughter made me cry... All of the feels!

To be honest, I'm a huge HIMYM fan and I was okay with him and Robyn getting together. It just seemed to work, I mean hey, he did wait 'an appropriate amount of time'. It would have been nice to have spent more time on the back story between Ted and the mother and how their lives went. Sigh. Watched some re runs today and it made me sad that it's all over, all 9 seasons of it.

I liked the mother! I don't think they should have killed her off. Couldn't we have had a happy ending for everyone? I was actually quite disappointed with the whole final season, I really don't think it was as well written as the rest.

Still, as a whole series, I love it. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry, it makes you feel like the characters are people that you could be friends with. I just loved that camaraderie. Much more so than Friends, which is sort of similar.

I wish something else would come out that was similar. I heard talk of a spin off "How I Met Your Father" but TBH it sounded a bit cr@p.
