If you buy the piece of silverside from Coles or Woolworths it will usually have instructions on the packet which is a good place to start. I still cook mine basically like the instructions. Once you're happy with it you can try some different ways to cook it if you like. I keep mine easy and it works out ok. Although I've had slow cooker silverside and it's been amazing.
For me I take the piece of meat out of the plastic, put it in a saucepan with enough water to just cover it, add 1/4 cup brown vinegar, some black peppercorns, a couple of bay leaves, an onion chopped into wedges and a carrot roughly chopped. Stick the lid on it and simmer for as long as the packet says (it is pretty forgiving though if you're slightly over or under the time)

don't put the meat in already simmering water. Put the meat in the cold water and let it heat up with the meat in the pot.

Some people serve with cabbage but i like it with mash and either green beans or some other kind of greens. The best part I reckon is the mustard sauce but not everyone likes it!

    Good luck! I love silverside!

Tonight we're having pork chops and apple sauce with veg
