Oh man, I want to make a list of my favourite characters but I don't think I could ever manage to get it right...I do know this, though, Sirius Black was clearly the sexiest man in the wizarding world!

Whoever was talking about fan fiction, I was writing some ages ago about Sirius at Hogwarts...because he's awesome.

I do love Daniel Radcliffe. There was something else I saw where he said when he was doing a stage show (equus?) he left every day in the same outfit to annoy the paparazzi. Their photos were worth nothing so they left him alone.

No one mentioned Lupin and Tonks for saddest deaths?! But at least Teddy had Harry to talk to about how much it sucked to be orphaned by Voldemort.

And since fan fiction was mentioned, has anyone read "HP & the methods of rationality"? (Where Harry was raised by loving, academic adoptive parents and goes on to point out the many logical flaws in a magical universe)
I'm a scientist so it has a pretty strong appeal to me

And does anyone else think that The Goblet of Fire made no sense?! Why was the cup the portkey?? Other than for Rowling to have a reason to write Harry into the tournament of course But there's no internal reason why the cup should have been the portkey, if Voldemort and supporters were able to choose the object then there's no way they would have made it something so complicated and have to risk Harry dying during the tournament. But if they didn't make the cup the portkey, then why on earth was it a portkey?
Any theories on this? lol It's been bugging me for the last 14 years…

Well considering Mad eye Moody/Barty Crouch jr fixed the whole competition so Harry could win, it was unlikely he was going to die. In the first challenge he made Harry think to use his broomstick to get the egg from the dragon, in the second challenge he got Neville to help Harry in the library where Neville suggested Gillyweed and in the final challenge he basically removed all the obstacles Harry faced in the maze. The only obstacles he really came across were those that were affecting the other contestants. The cup was made into a portkey because the fixing of the tournament for Harry to win would have ensured that he touched the cup and was transported to the cemetery for Voldemort and the death eaters. I'm guessing it was selected for that time because a) no one would notice Harry was missing for quite some time, b) he would be weakened by the tournament, c) Voldemort needed the time to grow stronger himself and probably work out what needed to be done to ensure he came back to life fully.

I must say it's not something I've really ever questioned. If the port key was say a book and Harry just disappeared in front of other people they would be onto it right away. But with the cup being the portkey it bought time for Voldemort to do what he needed without having to worry about someone spoiling his party. Plus with Mad eye moody/Barty Crouch jr befriending Harry, they would've been getting some insider info on him surely - strengths and weaknesses etc

@deku and @theoneandonlyem, you're missing the bigger question that bugs me more...how did the cup/portkey take Harry and Cedric's body BACK?!?!

If it helps, @deku, I read all this out to DH and he pointed out that Dumbledore always made the cup a portkey to take them back to the winner's area so Crouch enchanted it to take them to the graveyard instead. When that had been done, Dumbledore's original spell kicked in.

That actually makes total sense. I knew I married this man for a reason!

Found these this morning. Clearly Ron is smarter than he's given credit for. Especially when it comes to divination. Plus now I'm going to have to read the books again to find out if this is true lol

@theoneandonlyem, I can't believe how many times I've read the series and never noticed Ron guessing that Riddle killed Myrtle.
