When I was younger, I worked at a fast food place in the city. There was an elderly homeless man who hung around all day every day; dirty long dread locks, putrid rags for clothes, just a sad waste of human life. My heart broke every time I saw him, so one day after work I made a cup of orange juice, grabbed a burger and on my way to the train station I saw him and offered him the food. Well, he screamed at me to "fuxk off" !
I was only 15 and really taken aback!
Besides him, I've given spare change lots of times, especially when I was younger and naive about drug use etc.

I worked in fast food also when younger and one night noticed a family raiding our bin for pizzas. Got talking and they lost their house and were living in their car. So I used to make them some fresh pizzas every night. We also donated almost all our stuff from bub 1 to a young girl, not homeless but certainly disadvantaged. We gave her our cot, change table, bath, clothes, a full prado full. And she's such a good mum too:-)

I gave a lady a sandwich and my umbrella once cause it was pouring down.
    I wouldn't offer money though

I live in remote NT. People ask me for all sorts or things every day. I say no and I ask them for money. Maybe when I was a little softer I bought a homeless women a sandwich for breakfast and she told me to F off. Such is life!

Yes I do. I have bought their dogs food on several occasions as well. Breaks my heart poor puppies - genuine question do they just use them to get sympathy? I make sure that the doggies get it too.

I once had a friend pull me away from giving a man with a dog money saying they use them as a ploy
