Maroochydore and Mooloolaba are both quite nice and there is a camp ground right near the water. The beaches are lovely and underwater world is always fun for the kids

Or Tallebudgera on the Gold Coast. There's a camping ground right on Tallebudgera river/creek and you can walk around to the surf beach if you want to.

Cotton Tree on the Sunshine Coast is awesome for caravanning and camping. Then if you wanted to stop again outside ballina I would try Fingal Head or Kingscliffe - both gorgeous.

    I remember whale watching from
Fingal Head as a kid. Pack your binoculars if it's whale watching season when you go.

Are you spending much time in Hervey Bay? I can recommend a good whale watching charter if you have the time/right time of year

Love Mooloolaba! We go there a couple of times a year and never get sick of it.
